It has recently come to my attention on YouTube again that people are hostile. Okay. I get it. It’s the Internet. That place where people go to hide behind their camera on YouTube and other social media just to be absolute holes to one another. Yet, I am disappointed to no end with these clowns. Disclaimer: Statements expressed in this article are strictly my opinion. If you disagree or have a different opinion, that’s okay. I’m not an expert on everything. I’m not always right. I’m just writing from my experience as I know it. Your mileage may vary. There are good ones, though. I run into the ..read more

Dragonbane Review Part 2

Main Rules Chapter 1: Intro and Chapter 2: Creating a Character. Dragons and Demons have been at war over the land since the most ancient of times. The dragons, keepers of Law and Order through, well, draconian means spread far and wide. The Demons spread Chaos and Corruption wherever they went. According to the backstory, their war ended in the ruination of the earliest civilization, leaving vast ruins for us to explore. I absolutely love three things about this Intro chapter. First, the setting is baked into the game. We have dungeons to explore and the two most absolutely badass forces of ..read more

I’m  absolutely enthralled by this game right now. [DISCLOSURE: I received a free digital copy of the Dragonbane Core Set from Free League Publishing. I am not an affiliate, nor have I received any compensation for the review itself. ]   Before I got into Dragonbane, I downloaded the free Quickstart Rules from DrivethruRPG.com. I also watched all of the lovely Dragonbane How-To videos by Ellinor DiLorenzo. If you haven’t seen the videos, I highly recommend them. She’s a gem. Link to the first one HERE. I’m going to cover the rulebook to start with. This will be a multiple part series ..read more

Fistful of Goblins Review

This is another fine game from Michael Straus- The OG GM. Art by Aaron Cornelius. This product can be found on DriveThruRPG at This Link. Fistful of Goblins is set in one of the strangest of Weird West settings. It’s loosely d20 compatible, meaning it will work with pretty much any d20 roll high system. The Aaron Cornelius art really completes this game in terms of theme and aesthetics. The first thing most people will notice is this game’s unit of currency- the Pog. I am super tempted to find a stack of these things and a slammer to a game session if I ever get a chance to run it. I think a l ..read more

I’m going to echo what has been said already by others. Photo by Daisa TJ on Pexels.com Yes, you’re in the right place. You’re here for Dungeons & Dragons night, right? Come in. Have a seat. Do you have a character yet? Okay, let’s roll up a character really quick. Roll these three ordinary six sided dice six times and write them down. What’d you end up with? The conversation continues on from there. Soon Bob the Human Fighter is born. And then you’re ready for your first ever adventure in D&D. All you have to do is use a little imagination and tell us what your character would do in e ..read more

This fine specimen comes to us by way of Mutated Monsters from Dice Dungeons LLC. First, this variant on the standard Dungeons & Dragons Bulette comes to us from the Mutated Monsters book. I would like to take a chance to again thank the writers of Mutated Monsters for all of their efforts. My review can be found here. The book can be purchased via DriveThruRPG in PDF Format. [The regular Dungeons & Dragons Bulette is listed in the SRD5.1. Fair Use under CC-BY-4.0. The Wasp Bulette is being shown for review purposes. ] It’s pronounced, “Boo-LAY.” Although I hear bullet and bull-eat a l ..read more

May came in like a lion, and it’s going out like an even bigger lion. It’s Freedom Day May 2024 edition. That means it’s time to express my gratitude for getting kicked to the curb by my corporate job back in July of 2021. It’s fine. That job totally wasn’t serving me, anyway. I deserved better. This particular month of May was pretty  bumpy coming on. We’re a busy family right now, especially with one on the verge of graduating next week. Holy buckets, one is graduating from high school next week! At that point, we’ll be one down and three to go. (Grin.) The impending graduation of Child ..read more

This one is harder than it sounds to write. So, I accidentally stepped on my friend’s proverbial toes the other day on YouTube. Now this person is not like a close friend. We know each other from X (Twitter) and YouTube. I’m going to keep it anonymous because I really don’t want to call him out on this, but there was a bit of a misunderstanding. If I named people, I wouldn’t be able to go near a civilized star systems for weeks, maybe years. A little more background: I had a rough go of Roll For Combat’s (Pathfinder 2E) RPG Superstar. Regular followers of my blog have probably heard how I didn ..read more

Welcoming Everyone New In The TTRPG Hobby.

I feel like I shouldn’t have to say this. I get that every group is a little different. Every Game Master is a little different. Everyone has their own style and preferences. That’s cool. What puzzles me is when I hear GMs say, “I vet all my players,” or “I gatekeep my group.” I understand not wanting certain extremely dangerous and/or sketchy people around one’s kids or someone who might pose a physical threat to other members of the group. (pedoiles, Nais, etc.) What bugs me is it also gets used to exclude people who probably deserve a chance. Disclaimer: Statements expressed in this article ..read more
