I make this blog post at the end of every year. It’s helpful to have a space where I sit down and reflect on the past year of my business and dream for the future of it. Veronica and Curtis married in a Blue Ridge Parkway sunset elopement in front of their 11 closest family members and friends up in the mountains. We started the day at the Omni Hotel in Charlottesville. Veronica and Curtis each got ready in their own room with their families, then shared a sweet first look in the incredible atrium of the hotel. We drove to the ceremony spot on Blue Ridge Parkway. Mike and Katherine’s Massanutten mountain proposal reminds me of why I love my job. Mike emailed me a few weeks before their couple’s vacation and was so excited that he planned on proposing. They had a full weekend planned filled with horseback riding, hiking, vineyards, dinner plans, and enjoying each other’s company. Evening, blue hour, and night portraits! Olivia and I had a blast together getting a variety of photos to celebrate her graduation. She has a background in dance, and it was so much fun getting some action shots! Olivia is graduating from Wilson Memorial High School and has this perfect green cap and gown to match flowers and greenery. So of course, we started at the Edith J. Hannah and Brad’s family farm and barn spring wedding day was filled with nothing but love. They spent every second surrounded by their family and friends, and every detail was perfectly made for their relationship and the life they are building together. Lora and Zach’s engagement session was such an enjoyable shoot. I love working with couples who are up for anything! We just walked and talked, spending time getting to know each other and I have the privilege of learning about their love for each other. Lora and Zach actually met at their co-worker’s wedding! I love attending styled shoots and editorials. Not only do I get the freedom to be creative and have fun with my craft, but I get to meet other local vendors and photographers and create together. It’s a fantastic way to strengthen our community and create some lasting relationships. Each year I try to buy tickets to a few styled shoots that are put on by others. Sometimes they’re set up by other photographers, and sometimes they’re set up by design companies who want to show off what they can do. In 2021 I had the pleasure of photographing 112 seniors all over the James Madison University Quad and around Virginia! We took pictures on different college campuses, on top of several mountains, and overlooking countless vistas in every type of weather, light, and season.
