Somewhere along the Mid North Coast between Port Macquarie and Coffs Harbour, you’ll find Hat Head National Park. As one of many national parks on the New South Wales (NSW) coast, you might not think much about visiting this small park. But, think again. It boasts terrific camping, challenging hiking trails, stunning beaches, and interesting historical landmarks, making it one of my favourite spots along the coast north of Sydney.  Hat Head National Park, along with the adjoined Arakoon National Park, is a great place to set up camp for a couple of days and enjoy the incredible coastline ..read more

Warrumbungle National Park was somewhere I’d wanted to go for some time. The images of dramatic rocky outcrops and towering spires against rolling ridgelines and starry nights were utterly enticing. I was excited to finally get the chance to visit the national park and head out on a Warrumbungles overnight hike during my visit. While the national parks along the South Coast of New South Wales were consumed with torrential rain and flooding earlier this year, I headed inland and turned the steering wheel north towards the Warrumbungles instead. I spent over a week in the park, walking every tra ..read more

The coastal communities on the South Coast were very welcoming and it had me thinking that it would be a pretty nice place to live. In this post, I’m rounding up the best places to visit on the South Coa ..read more

Home to the largest granite monolith in the Southern Hemisphere, Bald Rock National Park is an underrated highlight of northern New South Wales. The beautiful and unique area is a great weekend camping and walking destination, with a chance to enjoy some panoramic views in a peaceful bush setting. On my recent visit to the Granite Belt region, I spent a night camping in Bald Rock National Park, just half an hour away from Tenterfield in New South Wales. During my visit, I hiked up to Bald Rock Summit for sunset and enjoyed an amble to Little Bald Rock too. It was such a quiet place to spend 24 ..read more
