New Zealand’s smoking rate has halved in just five years due to the widespread acceptance and use of smoke free nicotine products, according to a new Smoke Free Sweden report by a panel of international experts led by public health expert Dr Marewa Glover of New Zealand. The average weekly diesel fuel price in Australia fell 1.2¢ 193.7¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 9 June, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report. The average national weekly metropolitan retail price fell 1.1¢ to 191.6¢ a litre, while the regional price fell 1.3¢ to 195.4¢ a litre. The most expensive diesel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 212.9¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (198.9¢), Queensland (195.5¢), Victoria (193.6¢), NSW/ACT (193.2¢), South Australia (190.9¢), and Western Australia (189.2¢). The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia rose 6.7¢ to 192¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 9 June, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report. The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose 9.9¢ to 192.8¢ a litre, while the regional price rose 0.4¢ to 190.4¢ a litre. Customers using Sainsbury’s ultra-rapid EV charging service Smart Charge can now collect loyalty points via the retailer’s Nectar program. The latest KPMG Australia Retail Health Index (RHI) indicates the road to recovery for Australia’s embattled retail sector has stalled, with positive health not forecast until September 2025.
