Houston Texans OTA's are in full swing, and we can't remember there being this much optimism about the team in years. Which has a lot of national media outlets creating more content about the Texans than ever before. But one thing to watch out for from these national content creators is how plugged in they really are to the team. When the Texans drafted tackle Blake Fisher in the second round, many believed that was a sign that he would be the starter at right tackle, and Tytus Howard would be moved back to guard. But anyone that has actually watched Howard play, knows that he's a much bette ..read more

Getting late early: How critical series against Twins could define Astros season
Sports Map
by Charlie Pallilo

The late, great Yogi Berra once said “it gets late early out here,” referring to having to deal with afternoon shadows when playing left field at Yankee Stadium late in his career. We can adapt that Yogi-ism to the Astros’ season. There are still more than a hundred games to be played, but the clock is ticking on the Astros’ getting their you-know-what together to the level of a playoff team. It could be getting late early here. Coming off a bad but not catastrophic loss of three out of four games in Seattle, the Astros remain within reasonable striking distance at five and a half games back ..read more

When the Houston Texans traded for All Pro receiver Stefon Diggs this offseason, the fanbase was elated to have a player of his caliber join their up-and-coming team. There were really only two concerns about the addition of Diggs. 1) Would he be a problem in the locker room? 2) Was his drop in production in the second half of last season due to losing a step? It's way too early to have an answer to the first question, considering they haven't played any games. We don't know how Diggs will respond when the team faces adversity. But it seems like we have an answer to the second question. ESPN ..read more

Alarming Houston Astros facts you need to know about

ESPN Houston's John Granato & Lance Zierlein opened the show discussing just how bad some elements of the Astros have been. For instance, for the seventh game in a row, the Astros have only scored in one inning. Against the Mariners in this series, the Astros are hitting .180, with two extra-base hits, 33 strikeouts, and four walks. What's even more troubling, is Houston produced three quality starts in this series, and have no wins to show for it. Also, as good as Kyle Tucker has been, a lot of his production has come from beating up on below average teams like the A's. In this series a ..read more

With Astros season in balance, assigning blame just got exponentially harder in Houston
Sports Map

With one third of the season in the books, the Astros are still trailing the Mariners in the AL West and have yet to reach .500 this season. With such high expectations every year in Houston, many fans are looking for someone to blame. Enter new manager Joe Espada. It's human nature to notice what's different from last year, and point the finger. And considering the Astros' record, Espada shouldn't get a free pass for the club's struggles. But if we're being fair, we have to wonder how many of the decisions he makes are his own? Which brings us to Jose Abreu. The Astros' front office is givi ..read more
