The ‘Paper Girls‘ Netflix show inspired me to get my hands on a copy of the original comic series – and wasn’t disappointed. It’s got that ’80s vibe, sarcastic teens and crazy time travel ..read more

I started reading this a few months back but put it down because I was finding it hard to get into the narrative – it tends to jump around the timeline a lot. But I will come back and finish off this duology when I’m in a better frame of mind. I’ve done this before with other books and turned out to love them. Is there any books you’ve stumbled at reading first try and made a second attempt and enjoyed it? The ‘Time Salvager’ duo is a fast paced, action packed, time travel tale, so it should be right up my alley ..read more

I picked up the novel ‘Sphere’ by Michael Crichton a year or two ago after I remembered watching the film back in the ‘90’s and was keen to read the book and then re-watch the film to see how things held up today. I vaguely remember liking the movie and had a rough idea of what happened. So, how did the two compare? Be aware, I’m discussing the differences between the two mediums, so spoilers be here! This will be a blow-by-blow comparison for each beat of the novel and film adaptation. MEETING THE CREW AND THE POSSIBILITY OF ALIENS The novel is told in first person perspective from Norman Jo ..read more

A fun time travel concept… more for kids. Genre: Y/A, Historical Fiction, Romance, Adventure No. of pages: 322 Sixteen-year-old Gwen lives with her extended – and rather eccentric – family in an exclusive London neighborhood. In spite of her ancestors’ peculiar history, she’s had a relatively normal life so far. The time-traveling gene that runs like a secret thread through the female half of the family is supposed to have skipped over Gwen, so she hasn’t been introduced to “the mysteries,” and can spend her time hanging out with her best friend, Lesly. It comes as an unwelcome surprise when ..read more
