Hi everyone, I’m starting to use Ansible and I’d like to make a workbook to read the DNS configuration on Linux and Windows virtual machines, with a view to then modifying them. Is there something like that, I guess yes, without having to go and read e.g. /etc/resolv.conf and run an ifconfig?
Thank you,
Matteo

Currently there is a poll in community.mysql about dropping mysqlclient in the future, so that only PyMySQL will be supported.
If someone wants to participate: deprecate mysqlclient and support only PyMySQL · ansible-collections/community.mysql · Discussion #645 · GitHub

In AWX 21.12.0 I am trying to configure SAML with GOOGLE.
It works, but I’m having issue with mapping users from Google Groups to AWX Teams.
Groups are mapped to AWX as App attribute: googlegp on google side
and then in the AWX settings in SAML Enabled Identity Providers section:
…“attr_groups”: “googlegp”.
I would like the google group: group1 to be mapped to AWX Team: team1.
Does anyone have an example of a similar solution?

ansible-test included in ansible-core devel now supports Python 3.13 in its default containers. It is by default used for sanity and unit tests, and can be used for integration tests as well with ansible-test integration --docker default --python 3.13. You can use this to check your collection’s code for compatibility with the upcoming Python 3.13!

We’re thrilled to introduce the new Ansible development tools!
The package provides an easy way to install and discover the best tools available to create and test Ansible content. The tools are focused on the workstation for automation creators using Visual Studio Code and it will be available in RPM format for RHEL as well as a container image for other operating systems.
These tools will also be a new supported feature of the Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform that brings together enterprise-grade capabilities to enable automation developers in the creating, testing, and deployment of Ans ..read more

This joins the following discussions:
Unmaintained collection: frr.frr
Unmaintained collection: openvswitch.openvswitch
Unmaintained collection: vyos.vyos
The reason is that the situation for those three collections is the same. It’s probably easier to have the discussion about them in one place.
Important information on the deprecation:
Unmaintained collection: frr.frr
deprecated in December, 2023 and will reach end-of-life on December, 2025
So I thought to remove it from Ansible 13. But:
Unmaintained collection: vyos.vyos
We will continue to run ansible-test in CI for ansible-core<=2 ..read more

Hi,
I have installed the vmware_rest collection using:
ansible-galaxy collection install vmware.vmware_rest
It is visible with:
ansible-galaxy collection list
vmware.vmware_rest 2.3.1
Is it located in:
/home/ansible/.ansible/collections/ansible_collections/vmware
But somehow I still get this error.
My config is:
ansible-playbook [core 2.16.5]
config file = /etc/ansible/ansible.cfg
configured module search path = [‘/home/ansible/.ansible/plugins/modules’, ‘/usr/share/ansible/plugins/modules’]
ansible python module location = /usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/ansible

Hello,
I have a playbook which I used to configure servers. I’m passing --limit X.Y.Z.IP --tags=mytag which always worked.
Out of the sudden I get the error msg: The following modules failed to execute: ansible.legacy.setup. I removed the limit, but the error stays the same for each machine.
I also tried to install ansible in a container with no luck at first. Now I’ve found a solution using Ubuntu:20.04 but running in a container is a bit cumbersome. The specific server is Ubunto 18.04. others are CentOS 7
Is there any deprecation I did not find using Google? My client is running Manjaro
