A memorable week’s fishing with carp to 51 lbs and catfish too (don’t know, it was massive!) This week we welcomed Niall & Hester back to the venue for their second visit. Niall is a very experienced angler when it comes to the rivers and canals of Holland but he’s not spent much time fishing lakes. In fact, his trip to us last year was his first time fishing still water. He loved the tuition so much the first time around that we had another session together this trip.  While Hester had a good catch up with Ren, Niall and I snuck off to go and find some carp and that didn’t take us v ..read more

A tricky week’s fishing with carp to 38lbs This week we welcomed Mark, Steve and his son to the venue for their first trip to us. They had booked me for 1.5 days support so I spent most of Sunday with them. It was clear from the start that Beausoleil was very different from what they knew but they were here to learn. Every tuition is customised to the anglers and so once we worked out what areas we needed to focus on, that’s where we spent the time. What a week! Matt’s tuition was superb and really took us out of our comfort zone. We will take so much with us that will help us improve in the ..read more

A tricky week’s fishing with carp to 39 lbs This week we welcomed father & son team Steve & Jonathan to the venue. This was Steve’s 4th visit to us but he last visited 10 years ago! For Jonathan this was his first time here. They’ve fished in France together quite a few times and they’d specifically chosen to return to Beausoleil for a shot at one of our big catfish. Normally mid May is an excellent time to choose for the big cats but the weather has been awful of late and the first three days of this week were no exception. Catfish don’t become active until the water temps reach 13.5 ..read more

A superb week’s fishing with carp to 55 lbs with loads of big 30’s and 40’s! This week we welcomed back Mark & Darren to the venue for their 2nd visit. They first visited us in 2022 with a couple of other friends but this time they came with their better halves, Katie & Debbie. The fishing has been fantastic and that was all down to the tuition on our first visit The guys did the tuition the first trip and absolutely loved it. Mark’s first words to me were:  “I’ve got ten packs of Nash Chod Twisters!”, haha! Nice mate, that’s the way!  The weather continued to be generall ..read more

A game of two halves this week with carp from 30 lbs to 48 lbs! This week we welcomed Dirk & Johan to the venue for the first time. It was also their first fishing trip outside of Belgium so this was a big step for them. Dirk speaks both English and French very well but Johan doesn’t speak either so direct communication was tricky. The tuition started straight away on arrival and after a 3 hr setup session, they had the knowledge and the tools to fish safely and effectively from the beginning. Dirk had a superb start with 4 fish before breakfast on the first night including 2 x 40s! Wow ..read more

A good week’s fishing with plenty of carp to 38lbs and cats to 103lbs This week we welcomed Jules, Rick & Andy to the venue for the 5th time. That means they are officially Beausoleil veterans! Over the years they’ve had some good weeks and some tougher weeks. This year we were hoping that the lake was going to reward them for their loyalty! The weather started off crazy warm with temps hitting a heady 25 degrees over the weekend. For a minute everyone thought it was summer and then in 24 hrs we lost 10°C! On arrival, the carp were very active and could be found from one end of the lake to ..read more

A nice week’s fishing with carp to 43 lbs! This week we welcomed Erik for his third visit to Beausoleil. On his previous visits he’d been by himself but this time he was accompanied by his partner and friends. For Henk this would be his first time carp fishing so they took the tuition option. Beausoleil is a tricky venue for any skilled and experienced carp angler so this was going to be a shocking steep learning curve for Henk. He was only going to be fishing days alongside Eric so help was only a few meters away.  Eric didn’t waste any time clocking one up on the board and what a lovely ..read more

A cold wet and miserable week’s fishing that ended in glory with carp to 49lbs and a 102lbs catfish This week we welcomed back Mark & Des to the venue for their 2nd visit. Last time, they came with their wives and the guys loved it so much they couldn’t wait to return and they leapt at the chance of one of our spring weeks. Traditionally we’ve had some excellent early season sessions here but the weather still has a role to play. The weather we get is not too dissimilar to the UK and you don’t need me to tell you just how wet it’s been of late! For the first half of the week, the whole la ..read more

A great start to the season with cats to 81lbs and 5 forties Opening week To open the season this year, we welcomed Peter and Janet to the venue for their 3rd visit. They had a lovely time and Peter caught 10 catfish (including two big uns!) and three nice carp around upper twenties. What’s also really impressive is that Peter did not lose a single fish. On the rig front, he used my version of the classic mono hair rig and baited consistently with plenty of Scopex Squid, pellets and Nash particles. It was wonderful to see them again and we already look forward to their August visit Following ..read more

We are very much looking forward to many anglers catching the fish of a lifetime at Beausoleil again this year. The lake is looking as good as ever and I just wanted to share a few thoughts for those of you coming this year. New fish It’s been 6 years since we stocked any new carp at the lake and it was great to be able to introduce some new blood to the venue. We’ve stocked seven carp from 25lbs to 30lbs. They are from the same Czech/Romanian strain that we introduced in 2017/2018 that have done very well for us. Some of these carp are now mid and upper 40s so we know they like it here! Thes ..read more
