1. Where can a hunter have his quarry tested? 2. What is done to safeguard the meat until the test results are gotten? I would hate to spend money on deer processing only to find out the animal tests positive later on. Can the meat be preserved before butchering while the CWD testing is in progress? The threat of CWD seems to make deer hunting a gamble, not only to human health but to a hunter's savings account. A deer found positive could make the harvest turn out to be a costly flop. You... A friend and I decided to make the trip out to Ohio and try some bow hunting on public lands in the midwest. My buddy and I have 3 preference points. We are starting to look for a place to hunt. Some zones need 3 to draw and some need 4 points. So we are looking at 2020 or 2021 season. My father in law has been going to Ohio for 20 years now for shotgun season. In that time, he has shot one 8 pointer, tons of doe, and a few small buck, all on state land. On my first Ohio bow hunt. Seeing deer, passed up a small buck, had a corker come in behind me two nights later, no shot. Lots of buck sign too, everything I hoped for.
