I am a 56 year old woman, married to a firefighter.  I always knew that when my sons were older, I would go back to school to fulfill my dreams of a career doing something that I love!  Age should NEVER limit you.  In my book, Fire Wife, I wrote about “doing first things first” according to your values and using foresight.  Foresight is huge!!  Imagine the future you would love first, how you’d like it to look and then make choices and decisions that will make that future manifest and happen. For me having children was always a priority.  I also had every intenti ..read more

Whenever you are committing to making changes I want you to remember, 5 things: You are Worthy:  You deserve to feel happy most of the time and knowing that you deserve happiness is from knowing that you are worth the effort.  When you heal, you heal everyone around you.  When you are happy and live purposefully, you will feel amazing. You are worth it.  Whatever you’ve been through, please remember that it is the passed and it has past.  You only keep things alive by thinking of them over and over.  And when you keep thinking the same thoughts, you get exactly ov ..read more

Chapter Six Moving From Feeling Like a Five to a Ten

Good morning gorgeous!  We are for the most part a one man band so to speak.  When I say that what I mean is that, we are responsible for how we live and how we show up in this big beautiful world of ours.  We have both free will and the ability to choose how we go forth.  We can decide whether to heal what ails us, or choose to keep living like we have the weight of the world on our shoulders.  You will get two types of people in this world.  You will get those who take their lives by the horns and do what they have to do mentally, emotionally, physically and spi ..read more

Fire Wife – You Deserve a Recognition Award
Fire Wife Wise Blog

Fortunately I am married to a firefighter who also owns an award shop! Lol, but if you don’t have a trophy store at your finger tips, just know that you are very influential to the health of the fire department.  You are the one on the other front lines.   You are the hero, often unsung, behind the hero and I wish you were recognized in a far more formal way.  Until then, just know even though there is no award ceremony for you, without you and your support, things would not be as great.  You are part of a great team that serves the community on a larger scale.  W ..read more

The truth is, there is a solution for every problem and in everything, and in every aspect of our lives, we can choose to focus on the problem or focus on the solution.  You are human, you might get wrapped up in the issue, but don’t stay there.  I talked about all the things you will probably go through as a Fire Wife in my book, ahem, Fire Wife, Standing Strong in Your Relationship, Your Life and Your Dreams. In there I talk about feeling overwhelmed as a fire wife (solution:  lower standards and say no/set boundaries), When you feel out of the loop or that you two are living ..read more

When You’ve Put Your Dreams on Hold…For Now
Fire Wife Wise Blog

While this may not affect every fire family it will affect some, as it did for me when I put my dreams on hold for a while so I could raise my sons while hubby was busy being a firefighter.  I wrote in my book that at the time I was going to College to get my media and communications degree when hubs told me he wanted to be a firefighter.  Having my children at such a young age and knowing our home would be chaos if they had two parents at the same time trying to achieve their lofty goals, my husband and I essentially made the decision to take turns. Here’s the thing, you can still a ..read more
