Hello, I'm tackling the ECM wiring harness to my 83 Caprice 5.0L sedan (converted to 5.7L by previous owner who also chopped the ECM harness) with a harness I got off another car. I've been matching the wires based off color and what's in the Haynes book but I've got two wires not connected from the ECM to anything and the Haynes diagram doesn't even show some of the wires. Any ideas? I will try to upload a photo to better illustrate the issues. Also I'm having difficulty tracking which... Read more ..read more

Helping a friend who has a bearing noise coming from the compressor pulley. Don't have a shop manual, so how does one remove the pulley? It has what appears to be six small 5/16 or 3/8 hex head bolts about an inch long holding the pulley to the front plate. I've been told to use a steering wheel like puller for removal. Do I mount the puller to those bolts ..read more

Hello all, First time post here and first Impala (2011 LT, 3.5, Luxury package I think they called it) but I really love it. Thanks in advance for any help as I'm at a loss on this issue. I'm an almost 60 year old kid, can do basic auto repair, and I tend to try to find a screaming deal on a 100k miles or so mid-full size American car every few years, spruce up, drive to 150-175k, and repeat. Bought this one about 6 mos ago with 100k on it and except fixing for minor stuff (blend flap... Read more ..read more

Front caliper won't fit after new rotor and brake pads

Hi. I just did a complete brake job on a 2007 Impala LT 3.5 flex. But the drivers side front I'm having an issue with. Everything is back together correctly but for some reason the caliper won't fit over everything. I did notice on the brake pad bracket, the lower bolt is so corroded it won't move in and out like the top one. Could that be the issue? I have to wait until Monday before I can take it apart again and get a new sleeve bolt or whatever its called. Thanks in advance ..read more

Hi, 2011 Impala and it recently started not wanting come out of park. After a few tries it will shift out. The button on the gear shifter will press in and it clicks in the dash. Once it slides out of park, everything seems normal. My wife has left it neutral with the brake on a couple times and it now threw some traction control lights. Any ideas? Any input is appreciated. Thanks ..read more
