Trying to save my girlfriend's car, seen some conflicting diagnoses and symptoms. 2011 LT 3.5L, believe it's a 4T65E that has no drain bolt but with serviceable filter. Problem occurred on startup with no odd behavior or noticeable sounds. Found trans fluid overfilled by 1.5-2qt for 15,000+ miles. Fluid is light/medium brown, doesn't smell burnt. D will not engage below ~20mph but will above that (maybe closer to 25). 1st shudders on light accel until gained speed, slips on moderate accel... Clutch, converter, or solenoid ..read more

Recirc blend door actuator

The fairly recently installed recirc bda started the dreaded ticking today in my '13. It was replaced 1-2 mos. ago. Confirmed it was the culprit and removed/replaced it with a new one. Here's where it gets bizarre: opened the case on the old one and not one gear tooth broken or missing. First checked the usual offending gear and then the others. I'm baffled. I have often heard it or one of the other actuators whirring gently/resetting/recalibrating in the dash for a while, but thought... Recirc blend door actuator ..read more

Hello, I have a 2020 Impala premiere that has a shutter below 2,000 rpm when using the transmission in normal automatic mode. When in manual mode I can keep rpm’s above 2,000 and it drives perfectly fine. The shutter happens in all gears and speeds as soon as a load is put on the engine weather it be a hill or just trying to accelerate. Anyone have this before ..read more

At least according to U.S. News & World Report, anyway. John Vincent, the Senior Editor and Correspondent/Vehicle Testing at U.S. News, stops by to chat about their findings. Matthew Guy and I also discuss NASCAR's rain-shortened Coca-Cola 600 and a wet 'n' wild weekend in racing -- while we primarily focus the conversation on NASCAR, you'd best believe some IndyCar and F1 talk snuck in to the proceedings... Goofball Radiator Support

So, the core support on my Caprice is not in great shape. There's a lot more rust on the underside than one would have thought for a car that had been parked on pavement. The core sport is mostly rusted away below the radiator. There is still some of below the radiator on one side, but the other side is just dangling in the air. So I rigged up some cam buckle cargo straps to help support the radiator since I really don't want to swap out the entire support (figured ratcheting straps could be...
