You’re here because you know it’s important to capture your little baby during those first few weeks of life, all the little details and fleeting moments that whiz by while we’re figuring it all out (and on precious little sleep!). But scheduling newborn photos can feel like an exhausting task. Maybe you can’t imagine gathering your family to head to a studio, or finding something fancy to wear when you aren’t sure what your body will be like, or convincing your partner that this is a worthy investment. Maybe you want something that’s easy, relaxed, and authentic. If so, you’re in the right p ..read more

Is an Alum Creek beach photo session a good fit for your family? Well that depends - do you like to have fun? In all seriousness though, when you’re investing time, money and energy into a photo session, it’s important to consider your location. While my top choice will always be to have your photos taken at home or another place that holds sentimental value, a beach session is a close runner up. If you’re from Columbus, Ohio, Alum Creek State Park Beach is a great location for beautiful images, especially during non-summer months. When you plan for a session by the water, you can expect an ..read more

Cinestill 400d vs Portra 400 and 800 for indoor portraits

Cinestill 400d This one is for my fellow film geeks. I was recently gifted a couple of rolls of Cinestill 400Dynamic for Christmas, and took it along with me to an indoor mommy + me maternity session. I thought it’d be fun to use it alongside my trusted Portra 400 and 800 films and share the results, all of which I was so pleased with. All photos were taken using 35mm film. Portra 400 This was my first time shooting Cinestill, so I used it just like I do Portra 400 when I’m shooting indoors - rating it at 250 and exposing for the shadows. I also rated the Portra 800 at 400 and exposed for th ..read more

It was all snuggles, ease, and comfort at this mommy-and-me newborn session. Ahh, new parenthood. The days when feel like you’re moving underwater, relying on muscle memory because sleep deprivation makes it impossible to hold on to a thought. You sleep when the baby sleeps, feed, change, rock, repeat. You stare in wonder at what feels like the truest love of your life, wander your home barefoot throughout the night, listen to lullabies, the whoosh of the sound machine, drink endless mugs of coffee, entertain visitors passing through, eat your meals standing up and with fingers only - one arm ..read more

Date night. Add it to the never-ending list of chores that piles up in parenthood. Leaving the house? At the end of the day when you want to live in jammies on the couching binging Netflix? The horror! (Do you feel seen yet???) Despite my crummy attitude about arranging date night, I do actually believe it is important. Important to have some uninterrupted time doing something fun/new/relaxing/easy with your partner, where you can give them your full attention. As a Columbus, Ohio couples and engagement photographer, I hear a lot about how people met and the fun dates they’ve been on. It’s ins ..read more

My favorite ways to print your images // family photographers in Bexley, Ohio

My lay-flat luxury album comes with complementary design services! The process of printing our photos can feel so overwhelming that we’re likely to not do it at all, which is kind of heartbreaking. I mean, if you don’t print it, did it even happen? Yes, I’ll occasionally (very, very occasionally) scroll through old photos on my phone but it’s not the same as having something tangible and tactile that our family can revisit together as often as we want. Photos spark conversations, boost self-confidence, remind us what we love about the hard work of parenting, and add to our “daily sources of h ..read more
