Guys better be careful putting in for caribou LEH in reg 6. Some areas are booked up years and years in advanced. I have a booking for a lake I made in 2020 for 2025. It was the first year available for my preferred dates. You win but can't get a flight from the close plane bases you might be booking $4-5k in flights per trip...do you research is what Im saying. See flight availability or understand worst case scenario's ..read more

Another weird fiasco...

I went bear hunting this past weekend. Covered lots of ground with not much to report. At the very last light I was tracking through the timber . All of a sudden I am face to face with a massive boar. He is roughly 20 ft from me and we are having staring contest. I take aim at his chest -squeeze -nothing...look down- bolt is half open -I close the bolt - squeeze - nothing again WTF!!!... I reload - at the same time he takes two steps between the trees and is gone like a fart in the wind. I don't know wtf happened...when I reloaded, the bullet came out. I examined the bullet - it didn't have th ..read more

Taxidermy like a pro

I am starting to soft tan a cinnamon bear hide using professional taxidermy solvents. I will post the results when available. Rather than the vinegar or the brain mush method, I purchased a set of taxidermy solvents to try to do it like a pro. I have enough solvents to complete several hides, so I'm open to selling off a batch or two for your project. This would include detergent/sofenner, picking and tanning solutions, finishing oil, and pH strips to know rather than guess. With directions for each solvent. PM me is you're interested. Cheers ..read more

LEH 2024 Moose Hunting - New Areas

Looking for recommendations for new areas to hunt, primarily for moose. Looking at the new LEH synopsis and where to apply with the best odds for bull moose. I've typically hunted in 5-15 the last few successful draws but have not come home with any moose the last couple trips (including last year), so looking to spread wings and try new areas. Any recommendations with good odds for bull moose within 8-hour drive of the lower mainland? Not looking for multiple days of travel to get to a hunting area, any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Fairly new poster and 28 years old, still on ..read more

Hi there, I’m hoping someone out there has some experience hunting goats outside of Hazleton in the Rocher Deboule mountains? I see a few older posts, but would be grateful to anyone who has hunted there recently and has any information to offer, specifically on which of the many trails in that area gives the best access to goat country. I put in for an LEH and want to start doing the prep in the hopes that I’m lucky enough to get a draw. Would likely be hunting solo in late September/early October. Thanks in advance, Pete ..read more

June Scouting - Advice

I went into my first season of hunting last year blind, and quickly realize how much valuable hunting time I was wasting by trying to split my time each week between scouting for the following week and actually hunting. Last year I focused on whitetails, and this year I'd like to also target mule deer in higher country for some spot and stalk hunting. and am operating under the impression that scouting around now into early June will mimic the conditions of the fall hunting season. Can anybody give me some pointers on a good use of my time and energy? I'm thinking about exploring burns that ..read more

Hearing protection while hunting

Currently I use hearing protection while hunting, either the over ear muffs or the in ear silicone type. I have missed opportunities on animals because of the time it takes to get ear protection in and was thinking about switching to an electronic set. I briefly tried the sordin pro x headset and was surprised how much it amplified sounds like the kids playing in the next block over. I do a lot of calling and still hunting and was wondering what units other hunters use? I would like to have stereo sound so I can tell which direction the sound is coming from ..read more
