As announced at the Wellington City Council meeting on September 1st, Footnote New Zealand Dance can confirm we have exited the Karori Event Centre Project due to uncertainties around the proposed timeline. We are currently working closely with Wellington City Council on other suitable options that will have better outcomes for the city and for the wider Performing Arts Sector nationally. Kia ora koutou, with the first six months as Associate Board member, it’s a good time to reflect and take stock of what I have learnt so far. Three things come to mind, time; covid & governance. Time: The commencement of the role coincided with my return back to work after maternity leave. I perhaps, naively, thought the balance was a question of priority but have since learned that a sick baby doesn’t consider whether you have a board meeting or not.
