When serious cricketers are facing 100's or 1000's of balls each week, the life expectancy of their high-grade match bat can be shortened if over-used in the nets.
To overcome this, it is becoming more popular for players to have a practice bat made to match their game bat.
At Cooper Cricket, when making replica bats we match the cricketer's game bat using 3D modelling to create a CNC router cut shape that can be used over and over again, ensuring consistency from bat to bat. Each bat is then hand finished by our craftsmen.

Butterfly English willow comes from the same tree as other grades of English willow however, it gets its name from the butterfly shaped stain across the face.
This stain is caused from a branch being pruned as the tree is growing over a 10 - 15 year period. It causes a visible scar which creates a tough point that makes a cricket bat with good ping, great performance and longevity.
A butterfly scar can occur in any English willow cleft. It doesn't discriminate, meaning it can occur in clefts from any tree including those with 10 - 12 grains or those with as little as 4 grains across ..read more

During October 2023 all custom made butterfly English willow cricket bats are $599.
Butterfly English willow makes an outstanding cricket bat that is very durable and pings very well. The Butterfly name comes from the stain on the face of the cricket bat that is caused from branch pruning whilst the tree is growing over approximately 15 years.
It looks like a butterfly in shape and it actually strengthens all of the willow surrounding it. It adds character and depth to the willow which contributes to its unique appearance.
At Cooper Cricket we have been using butterfly English willow ..read more
