FESTIVE HOLIDAY SPIRIT IN FLORENCE

Why is it that we begin to feel a little more happy and lighthearted during the festivities at this time of year? I always wondered why December seems to make us all have a more jovial attitude than we do during the rest of the year. Maybe because it brings a sense of renewal with the New Year around the corner so it feels like we have a chance to start fresh? Or perhaps the fact that Christmas gift giving is a way to tell someone that you care for them, showing that you have taken time to do something specifically for them, makes us all a little more happy and feel good about ourselves too ..read more

As we approach the end of the year, we all are likely relishing in the happy moments, achievements and events of 2021 while looking forward into 2022 with hope, aspirations and new ideas and goals. We began our journey into 2021, as always, by pondering how to promote, beyond the closed boarders, our Monnaluna Artisan products. We tried to augment our visibility with our humble social media abilities by high lighting the part of Florence we belong to: the #Oltrarno. This is our district, and is home to a lot of different artisan crafts and their unique products. We are located on a peculiar st ..read more

This month's blog is dictated to San Lorenzo (today the 10th of August) and it being the co patron of Florence (together with San Giovanni which is June 24th)! I cannot ignore the fabulous moments that this past month or so has brought to us here in Italy, and for many, (Italians and not), around the world with all the fantastic international events taking place. I wish to tie today's celebration here in Florence with the celebration of life! Fashion is an instrument for fun and happiness and I literally believe that the entertainment we got from the recent months with all the sports events an ..read more

San Giovanni, June 24th, the Patron Saint of Florence, Italy

Many of you may not know that Patron Saints are very important to Italian cities. Starting from ancient times, as far back as the Greeks and afterwards the Romans, events and festivals were organised in celebration of these Gods (or Saints) to wish wellness upon the city and the population that they were to protect. On June 24th, Florence celebrates #SanGiovanni which is the Patron Saint of this city. San Giovanni, (or Saint John the Baptist), is also the patron saint of the city of #Torino, in #Piemonte and #Genoa, in #Liguria and I'm sure that the celebrations in those two cities are also no ..read more

It's always a little tricky trying to penetrate foreign markets and it does indeed take a lot of time and energy, professional guidance, luck and determination to make a difference in this highly competitive world. I confess, I have not always made the right choices. My project with Monnaluna has had good and bad moments as I'm sure most of the projects in the fashion world have. This adventure started in 2009, when the global economic stage was definitely not the most friendly, nor the most prosperous. And since then, many different events have occurred that brought me to where I am now. I m ..read more

Welcome back! I am picking up from the discussion about the Renaissance beauty of Florence that I left with you in the last blog. A first part of stories, in which I talked about Paris, Shanghai, Alamaty and Florence itself. If you missed it or need a refresh, here is the link In this second part, I will talk about the adventures tied to scouring the fashion exhibition world for more channels to showcase Monnaluna, beyond the fabulous contours of #Florence since 2015, more specifically, from 2017 to the present. I will share more stories with you from the show called #Homi in Milan, and from C ..read more

What does it take to be an Artisan? ... LOTS OF LOVE, SWEAT AND TEARS!! I think the number one characteristic of an authentic artisan is passion. Passion is definitely what defines the true artistic vein and allows the art within explode. Creating with our hands, unique masterpieces and refined products, is often an unreachable dream. There really is no price that can be put on any piece, if you consider the time and the effort put into each single item; many can't even imagine the amount of problems that arise when working on something new, not yet clearly defined, but intimately forged - bec ..read more

New beginnings - The Renaissance of Love

What a better way to start off this year than with the programming of a super event that coronates a dream like a wedding? Weddings are the beginning of a new family and an important milestone in many people's lives. It is like a Renaissance of its own with the formation of a new ménage (as the French would say), that brings a moment of ceremony, and a lifetime of serenity, happiness and confort to the bride and groom. What's important too is that it is not limited to the two protagonists. It also joins the two realities which are the families of origin of the couple - a momentous occasion for ..read more

It has been a while since my last post. But I've been thinking of all of you and working hard on new ideas and new stimuli for all of us so we can move towards the New Year with refreshed spirits and positive energy. In fact, the New Year is just a few minutes away! So I will make this blog short and sweet, but very sincere. My inspiration as always comes from my home: Florence, italy and all the wonderful people that have been to, and will return to, Florence. It is, in a nutshell, the most constant source of serenity and of harmony that I can access any time. I am lucky because I have incre ..read more
