Would there be any general benefit to running a 5w30 (VW 502 spec) instead of a more typical 5w40? Like less friction, improved fuel economy etc. This is more of academic question at this point, it's not like I'm looking to save 50 cents every fuel tank. In my case, I don't run high engine temps, typically drive 10 miles each way to work, live in mild socal temps, 5k mile OCIs. Not a question about oil brand, just viscosity. Hey guys, I put my self in some deep doodoo.... I went playing around with that hidden green menu and I screwed up something. I saw someone about suspension and was like hmm let me check it out. So I enabled it and the compass and then put it in what location it would appear. I then reset the mmi and now it's stuck on the splash screen. It is a MMI 3G. I don't know what to do. I tried hard resetting it like 5 times and I tried guessing where the factory settings button is in MMI setup because the buttons still work. Hi, My AC had been working intermittently for a while, ie: after pressing the AC button it would either work or not work. Eventually it stopped working altogether. A scan confirmed an open circuit on the magnetic clutch, so I checked the clutch with a multimeter which confirmed this. I also confirmed the cable to it is providing 12v when the AC button is on. I bought a spare part a few months back and have not yet got around to fitting it. The question is, any ideas if I could do this without either putting the bumper into the service position or having to remove the compressor? Not sure ho ..read more

Hey gang, I'm in the process (1/2 done today, finish it tomorrow) of pulling a donor 2.0T from a Q5, to strip and build for my A4 Avant. I'm not sure how many miles, but I'm going to be boring it, new rods, pistons, bearings, etc., so I'm not too worried. One thing that gives me pause is that when I pulled the radiator hose off, the coolant was bright blue, like washer fluid. Somebody put Peak in it. Obviously, I don't care about the hoses/water pumps, etc. I'm replacing all of that. But it's not like if you don't put G12 in it the block itself corrodes, right? It is making a weird chirping/pinging noise in the engine bay close to the oil filter, giving codes P12A4 , P2293, and P053F. Just had the HPFP replaced to try to fix it but it is still there.
