Happy Friday all,
Over the past week, I read Walking To Destiny by Christopher Snider, CEPA. Here are three takeaways I think everyone who owns a business or is a partner in one needs to think about more often.
1️⃣ No matter what stage of business you are in, you need to start thinking about what life beyond the business looks like. People find meaning in their work, and thus, it becomes a part of their identity. When someone exits (sell, retire, etc) many people find it difficult to find meaning in their lives and end up regretting the sale.
2️⃣ Be realistic about what you are selling and ..read more

Mortgage Rates, Student Loans, and The Debt Ceiling Mortgage Rates & Housing: It’s no secret that interest rates have risen recently. But how much?
Answer: A lot, but not a lot compared to history.
In recent times, it seems like rates have gone very up, very quickly. But compared to 1990, we are actually below those rates. Mortgages are priced based off of the “risk-free” rate set by the yield on government bonds. Our recent sharp increase in interest rates is mainly due to the one of the sharpest rise in central bank interest rate hikes in history.
Mortgage Rates from today to 10 years a ..read more

In the United States, tomorrow is the deadline to pay up on the amount of taxes you owe from your 2022 earnings. It’s also the deadline to file your return unless you were able to get an extension. Remember:
The US taxes its citizens on their global income and wealth accretion (this includes loans forgiven, income earned in foreign countries, realized gains on investments, etc).
Tomorrow is your deadline to PAY, not to file, if you were granted an extension.
If you don’t know how much to pay because you are still trying to figure it out, you will pay, generally, 110% of last years’ (2021 ..read more

This is a question we get all. of. the. time. If you find yourself with this question, you are by no means alone.
You Can Take Control
Just because you’ve been an overspender before, doesn’t mean you are stuck with it for good. Here is how to change.
The first item is to (manually) write down what you think you spend.
Go back a month and find out what you actually spent. Write that number next to your predicted number.
This is the most important part….don’t let yourself “off the hook”, be honest with yourself. If you over-spent on eating out, don’t say “well, it was stressful and I work ..read more

Hi everyone, welcome to your Monday Money Minute. Your one minute money fundamental.
When should I pay BEFORE the bill due date?
Answer: When there is a daily or continuously compounding interest rate.
Why: If interest compounds daily, you get poorer everyday. By paying the bill ASAP, it removes those dollars from the compounding base, and thus, reduces the amount of interest accrued daily. This is different from your utility bill, which does not get larger with each day you wait to pay (sands a late fee if you pay after the due date)….just pay those ON the due date if there is no pay early d ..read more
