So on a 5 string TRBX 505 bass, if I want to tune to Drop C/ Drop C#, 34 inch scale? Do I make it so the lower string is a C or an A? Considering I will only use common store brand strings. I won't order any ultra thick string from another country just for this. Is there any common brand set that's thick enough for A in 34"? Or better to just settle for C lowest string, and if so, what gauge set. Now I'm using Daddario ProSteels 5 string set, the pink one, can't remember the gauges. Second... Read more ..read more

Darkglass B7K Ultra vs Microtubes 200 amp

I couldn’t find any comparisons of these two, so I’m hoping someone has some experience with them. I want to get something for headphone practice, and i was going to buy the B7K Ultra, given that it has a cab sim and headphone out. But then I saw that the MT 200 is essentially the same price. Is there some functionality, in terms of EQ, switches, etc, that I would be missing if I just did the actual amp? I want something that can range from clean to distorted, and it looks like both do that... Read more ..read more

https://www.korg.com/us/products/tuners/pbxsbass/ My peterson tuner handles low notes no problem, and to be honest, the clip-on tuners seem to do okay in a quick pinch too. Seems to average a bit under $100 ..read more

Our (not-so) trusty, crusty Peavey XR400 PA Amp that was doubling as a bass amp shit the bed this weekend. We were looking to upgrade it anyway, but now it has to happen. Bassist is currently running a SUNN 200S which sounds great but it just doesn't have the kind of headroom we need. I've been looking at the GK700 RB ii (I read the first gen had some overheating issues) and GK 800 RB, currently have an offer in on a 700 RB ii, but I'm curious if there are any other options I should think... Hey yo fellas, in my seemingly never ending quest to find another 5 string bass, I ran across the seafoam green schecter j-5. It looks promising. passive pickups I thought they were single coils, but looking more into it, they actually seem to have 2 coils per pickup + coil tap. Interesting. wheel truss rod adjustment (must have if /when I can get it for me personally) satin finish on the neck i think. Just under $1k too! It looks good on paper for what I was looking for. Any of... Read more ..read more

Sold my fretless 6 string bass last week and had a bit of an empty nest feeling for extended range fretless afterwards. Got a little trigger happy on Reverb and took a shot on my first headless deal. This one is easier to play than my other atm due to the side fret marker lines. It's light but not so light that it feels like something from Toys R Us. Lightest instrument I have I think. Neck feels great, fingerboard is nice and smooth. The arctic ocean matte finish looks good. It's not... Read more ..read more

Got a used Squier Paranormal 54 Jazz Bass body in today and slapped my warmoth fretless neck on. I may saw off the fingerboard overhang because the 21-24 positions don't really work on a jazz bass body ..read more

I recently picked up a Darkglass Infinity. It's kind of an experiment. I'm going for a clanky rock/metal bass tone, but it's not as extreme as a lot of the stuff I see on YouTube. I need it to fit into a mix with guitars rather than overpower them, and for some reason getting a distortion sound I love has been a bit of a struggle for me.. I've been running a BDDI to FOH, then periodically hitting that with a distortion for certain songs. For the last year or so I've been using a B7K. I... Read more ..read more

Small bass head suggestion?

Been playing guitar forever but, I’m totally new to bass gear. I’m looking to get a used bass head for less than $700. It has to have an effects loop because it will serve double duty as a poweramp for my pedal-based guitar rig when I’m not using it for bass. Looking for some growly distortion and a vintage-modern voicing if that makes sense? I’m looking for modern but, not djenty-dark-glass modern. I had my eye on the Terror Bass. Would that be the right move or would you pick something... Read more ..read more
