I had 2 30's era L00s in the shop so I documented the bracing . A video is also in the works
The braces are so light and the best I can determine is the braces are almost all .250 by 1/2 in high but taper from the .250 to thinner as they were radiused.
all top braces are radiused to about a 25 to 30 ft radius. I am sure that 100 years of stress it may not be possible to know 100% for sure what there were.
I have had 3 individual pieces in my shop and while there was some variation , I attribute that to being hand made.
I am also making a tracing to follow this post shortly ..read more

I bought one of these just over a year ago. It was great for getting all of dad and grandpa's old chisels restored. I do finish them off with the water stones as others have mentioned.

Good luck with your first project.
Just wanted to let you know that I started my first guitar ( an OM kit from John Hall ) with very little wood working experience about 2 years ago ( March 2022 or so ). It took about 4 months to complete it but in the end I was very happy with the results and I play it almost every day.
Since then I built my second guitar from scratch ( an 000-12 fret ) this past winter and while a challenge with mistakes etc. it came out well and I'm very happy with it. Again, it took about 4 months.
I put some pictures up on the "Show it Off" post.
So... from my limited ..read more

I don't think you can delete a duplicate post. If I end up with one I go back and edit all the duplicate to just say "Duplicate." I suppose one of the moderators could delete a duplicate post, but it hardly seems worth bothering them about it.
I've been having the bank screen after a post problem too. That DOES seem like something worth bothering a moderator about. [although this time it worked fine ..read more

Ok think I have everything glued back down getting very close to trying to proceed. Then I sprayed stewmac white vinyl sealer and it crackled in places think I must have had hand oil on it or something. Anyway going to sand that off . What can I degrease with before I respray the sealer. tried naphtha but it just dissolved the filler and made a mess. Admittedly it was not cured but maybe a day so that may have been it. So what can I use to degrease vinyl sealer without removing all of it. The coat I am sanding has cured for a week ..read more
