Regal Build - Vintage LP Specs

I am trying to build a Regal as close to a 50's vintage LP, with some exceptions. The neck shaft material I chose is Indian Rosewood (because I really like the way it looks!), and I am not planning on Gibson pickups. Currently I am considering ThroBak SLE-100 or ThroBak Kossof pickups, with 50's wiring. I am attaching a copy of the Warmoth order page to see if anyone has any input as to whether this looks like I am on the right track, or if there are any obvious issues with the parts in... Tyler Dan Huff style monster Strat and Hybrid Tele projects

I had purchased these Warmoth Strat parts a couple of years ago. The ash body was a great deal for 110$ and I had them building this neck, birds eyes maple with rosewood board, 14" radius and 6150 frets. First build had 2 Lollar Imperials humbuckers as my original intention was to recreate one of Michael Landau Fender Strats... but honestly I never bonded with this project. So I dismantled it and went for the Dan Huff thing! Guitar has a great looking pickguard with hifi sealed pots from... Read more ..read more

I posted (http://unofficialwarmoth.com/index.php?topic=24807.msg359089#msg359089) several months back asking for advice on attempting to build a replica of Alex Lifeson's white Hentor Sportscaster, a modified strat he used on the Grace Under Pressure album and tour.  I saw that Alex's luthier got his permission to build and sell replicas based on the original's specs, however these were going for prices a tad over my horizon (~$3.3k).  So I ventured to build one myself... Wiring Kit for Guitar (Color Coding?)

My first build parts are set to arrive tomorrow. I purchased the wiring kit and am wondering about the plastic insulated (black, red and white) and the braided/shielded (grey) wires. Should I follow a color coding system? I assume the shielded wire would be best so I should use it first until it’s all used up. I’m guessing black is for grounding. This is going to be pretty straightforward Strat wiring ..read more

The Showcase Alder Velocity body that I ordered on 3/19 arrived.  I am going to use a Vega-Trem bridge.  I was going to put the bridge on my Fender Jeff Beck Strat, but it's playing so well I didn't want to mess it up so I bought this body to put it on.  Next up deciding on some pickups. I'll probably use Tru-oil on the body ..read more

80s shredder first build, high-accent flame maple PRS Dragon Burst

Finally got an 80s shredder glossed up (yeah, I know there's some orange peel in the 2k urethane... oh well), which turned out pretty awesome so I thought I'd share with ya'll. I logged everything pretty meticulously, and started recording after the first layer of dye went down, so hopefully this might be informative if there are any n00bs like me who want to do something complicated for their first build. I spent about 2 or 3 weeks practicing on flame maple scraps I got from a local exotic... Read more ..read more

I was going to wait until the parts showed up. Since I'm posting more than I thought I would, I figured I should maybe put this out there. So maybe I look like I belong here, and not just somebody spouting a bunch of nonsense. I certainly wouldn't want to be the guy that, say; bought a screamin' deal neck, 5 or 10 years ago, did a wee bit of work on it, not enough to screw it up, took a pic or two with a tuner on it, tossed the neck into a corner and never put it on a guitar, spent the...
