Have wanted to see the Cahaba lilies since moving here. Totally worth it! Drove to the NWR, parked and walked down the trail, then waded in the river. Wear shoes!

I’ll be driving from Fort Novosel towards Atlanta in a few days, and I’ve had no chance to leave the installation for the past 5 weeks. Since I haven’t had the opportunity to try “Alabama” food yet, where would you recommend I stop for lunch along the way? I’ve heard Alabama is known for its BBQ, but I’m open to anything unique to the state. Bonus points if the place serves beer. Thanks!

Is there a single good boat guide for traveling from the Coosa River to the Alabama River to the Gulf of Mexico? One that gives advice about good take out points, marinas, map, dangers etc?
