Taking the family down Denali Highway tomorrow.
Looking at what I have and thinking of alternative bait for grayling that is small kid friendly.
I plan to fly fish and use some spinners…but what else do they like?
Thank you ..read more

It’s getting harder and harder to find quality customer service, but I recently had a great experience with Okuma. I lost a couple of pieces off of a reel and went to their website to find replacement parts. I couldn’t find the schematics on their website so I contacted them via email. I immediately received a return email and then received a follow up phone call to make sure I got the information. The following day I contacted Okuma and asked what the cost would be for the parts and for...

Seeing as how we are potentially on the verge of an unprecedented in-river return of Kenai sockeye, I thought I'd resurrect this topic to encourage folks to give circle hooks a try for flossing reds this year.
In...

Hello all,
This is my first posting on the forum but I have been gaining valuable info from here for years and really appreciate it. My question involves catching whitefish from shore on spinning gear during this time of year. I have not found much info on this subject other than an ADN article from a few years ago. Is it not feasible to catch these fish from shore or are they just overshadowed by other species? It doesn't seem like anyone targets them specifically. I really would like to...

I'm going to be ordering some spoon blanks here soon and doctoring them up a bit.
I've ordered some die-cuts (pre cut reflective or holographic material) have some paints, and I'm going to use hooks and split rings of my own choosing.
These will be used mostly at my parents cabin on Lake Louise for Lake trout.
Are there any particular styles, sizes, or weights that you prefer?
There's a lot of options out there for sure!
And the bigger ones aren't exactly cheap so I'm not looking to purchase...

I did a search for "zero lake" on the forum but didn't really get any info....So I'm going to ask maybe a dumb question.
Looking at the Sat image on google maps it looks like the road to zero lake ends at a persons house. Maybe goes past it but right into their driveway.
Is there public access to Zero lake?
If so can someone tell me the access point?
Much appreciated ..read more

We are considering a trip down the Denali Highway this summer and getting a little grayling fishing in along the way. My first thought was to plan it for when there won’t be the crowds of caribou hunters. Realizing that should not be a problem since they have been canceling the hunt for the Nelchina herd?
Just double checking with you all that this is accurate. Actually just making sure of my sanity

In light of the other thread, I started watching (utube) bird creek fishing videos. Some locals fishing last season. At some point someone shows up from behind stating "Do not go on our property" and from commentary, I take it is not that uncommon to hear that. The fishing folks kind of ignored it - they were pretty much in the mud along the water line. I figure Alaska is as most other states and people do not own property adjacent river/stream waters. What are the rules ? How is this...
