I have had smoked fish dip with a lot of saltwater fish usually the oily strong tasting mackerels or blue fish even had a gut hooked sail that was maybe the best. I have my favorites. But have a suspicion that it was the chief that made some stand out more than others?I have never made it but want to give it a go with what's at hand. Anyone ever tried anything out of fresh water for this ..read more

I bet that title got some attention. Here is the story......
Couple of days ago I woke up way too early for an old geezer, but nature did it to me. After a brief visit to the jon I realized I was really awake and felt pretty good. Usually I’m bombed out and barely make it back to bed. Sat on the side of the bed for a couple of minutes and decided I’m going fishing. It has been a good while since I did a spur of the moment trip like that to the river.
After the usual early morning...

My uncle bought some property that has a spring-fed pond/lake in North Escambia county. It’s probably 2 acres of water. It seems to have plenty of bream and small bass but no catfish. I was thinking of catching catfish and putting them in there.
I assume it legal first of all. Is this a good idea? Any tips on catching some small catfish in either Escambia Or Perdido River? My boat is a 24’ carolina skiff without a trolling motor. I have a color Garmin bottom machine that is over ten years...

Brand new weedless bream hook now on the market. I have used a prototype of this hook during recent testing and it's like no other so called weedless hook I have ever used.
My experience was with 4 lb. mono without a sinker when using earthworms. This worm is heavy enough to cast on ultra-lite rod. Using redworms I found it worked best with the smallest split shot you can find. Actually it will cast a redworm without a lead, but I liked it a little better with a tiny weight.
Tight line...

In the river backwater this morning using the little river rise helping hand with enough water to navigate in the swamp. Couple of hours fishing a swamp lake that did not produce a fisho of any kind. So back to the river (videoo of return through th swamp) ,
One small cat and a beauiful small snapping turtle that was released caught from the river.
