Ken Carvahal’s 1962 Panhead

If I were to paint you a portrait of a guy who has been a project manager in a financial institution for over 20 years, chances are the image of a man with scratched and greasy hands, up in the wee hours of the morning, heating metal to make a sissy bar or installing a Panhead engine in a custom rigid frame would not come to mind. Yet this describes Ken Carvajal, whom I met last year during Fuel Cleveland. If you follow him on social media, you may think that Ken earns his living as a professional photographer, but no, this is just another one of the hobbies/passions in which he excels. But l ..read more

Could it be a hallucination? The heat that’s affecting my brain? I had been riding for a long time. Apart from the thin line of pavement in front of me, I was surrounded by the arid desert as far as the eye could see. Cracked earth and dry mountains all around. Suddenly, as if in a dream, a small patch of greenery began to appear in the distance. Different colours in the middle of a dry beige ocean. An oasis in the heart of the desert. I had arrived in Palm Springs. A corner of paradise where the sun shines almost every day of the year, well hidden in the middle of the desert and the mountain ..read more

Normandy Beach Race, 3rd edition Put together in a context still widely disturbed by the global COVID-19 pandemic, the Normandy Beach Race hit hard. The organizers gathered 100,000 spectators and 125 competitors from 14 countries, which was quite a feat for an event that was only in its third year of existence! The Normandy Beach Race is a fairly new event. The first edition was held in 2019, thanks to Jean-Marc Lazzari, Marc Félix and Thomas Hervé, who after participating in TROG (The Race of Gentlemen) in California in 2016, wanted to create a French version of that fantastic event. Puttin ..read more

The definition of the word “Recreate” : to give new life or freshness to or create again. For Christopher De Francesco, a custom bike builder from Vicious Cycles, located in Toronto, Ontario, it was more of the mindset to create again – “to form anew in his imagination and bring something new to life.” Such was the case with this custom chopper transformation born from its previous incarnation as a 2007 Harley-Davidson Fatboy. The Fatboy was factory stock when Christopher got his hands on it. It was the perfect donor bike when he decided he wanted to build a custom chopper for himself. I had ..read more

Revolution Motorcycle Magazine
by Suzie Gauthier

This motorcycle came from the mind and hands of an enthusiast, aided in his quest for parts by two brothers, the Charpentiers, including Marc who will preserve in his own way the legacy of his brother. The captivating story of this bike begins when Denis St Onge buys a motorcycle magazine because he falls in love with the machine on the cover. On this cover, a Harley Davidson Flathead U modified by a workshop in the State of New York creates a crazy desire in him to build a similar model. Hunting for Parts Since Denis is not at his first motorcycle, his circle of acquaintances is quite large ..read more

If you haven’t heard of Meredith Devine, you’re about to get an eye and ear full! Meredith is a staple in the motorcycle scene. She has created her own space in the very male-dominated community that the motorcycle world is in California. Through her art and her ideas, Meredith has brought back many artistic attributes of motorcycle culture from the 60s and 70s with her own girl-power twists. ‘Meredith’s Painted Ladies’ series put her on the map. I remember the first time seeing one of her shoots – a topless woman standing in a field, covered in painted flowers perched up on a beautiful motor ..read more
