HKS Racing Performer GR86 Circuit Challenge HKS Racing Performer GR 86 Circuit Challenge The GR86 has been brushed up in various elements from the last 86, including the engine and body. We can easily imagine how excellent GR86 is considering the performance of the new BRZ. However, we wondered what results we would get if we conducted a serious Time Attacking based on THIS, which has been sophisticated to be more like a pure sports car. HKS gradually upgraded components of the GR86 and conducted a time attack on Tsukuba Circuit Course 2000. We will evolve it step by step to ..read more

SPECIAL FEATURE BY   Dino Dalle Carbonare 17TH JANUARY 2023   Ever since we saw it at last year’s Tokyo Auto Salon, I’ve been waiting for HKS to tell us more about the RB26 complete piping kit conversion they teased us with. Back in January 2022, we were not only shown the Advanced Heritage RB that HKS is currently working on – more on this in a moment – but the sort of piping and air box setup that RB26 dreams are made of. Think Nismo carbon inlet piping and carbon air box on steroids and you get the idea. Last year, the package was in the first ..read more

SPECIAL FEATURE BY   Dino Dalle Carbonare 11TH JANUARY 2022   If you have followed the JDM tuner-verse for the last few decades, then HKS’s Driving Performer is a car you’ll likely be familiar with. Back in 2006, this was the test-bed and demo vehicle for the V-Cam system, which for HKS was at the core of creating a comfortable yet explosive RB26 setup for the street. I actually ran a story on the R34 Skyline GT-R in 2009. With RB-series GT-Rs exploding in popularity around a decade after, HKS pulled the R34 out from the depths of their storage garage and used it aga ..read more

SPECIAL FEATURE BY   Dino Dalle Carbonare 1ST JANUARY 2022   Even though we’re in the holiday season, there isn’t much rest happening over at HKS. This goes for a lot of other shops and big parts manufacturers in Japan too, because with the 2022 Tokyo Auto Salon now only a couple of weeks away (if Omicron doesn’t spoil that party), there are final touches to be put on demo cars that will serve as promotional tools for their products over the course of the coming year. But in the case of HKS and their new Toyota GR86 demo machine, it’s actually a bit more involve ..read more

CAR FEATURE BY   Dino Dalle Carbonare 8TH DECEMBER 2020   If you caught my drive feature on the new Gazoo Racing (GR) Yaris, you might be wondering if its 1.6L 3-cylinder turbo G16E engine and the 270hp it generates can be pushed further? And if so, how much is safe? Well, HKS is well on their way to answering that question, and on my recent trip down to the Japanese tuning company’s HQ at the base of Mt. Fuji, they also pulled out a GR Yaris that they’ve been playing around with for a few months. A while back, Gazoo Racing supplied HKS with a couple of p ..read more
