So I recently bought Descent: Freespace and Freespace 2 off of GOG.com, and realized rapidly that both games have more keyboard controls on them than a 747 has buttons. Since you can't really take your hands off of a gamepad to hit a key, I decided to buy a cheap Thrustmaster joystick with a bunch of buttons to play my new acquisitions.
It got me thinking, though: There's probably a bunch of other good games that I could use my joystick to play. I picked up Wing Commander 1+2 and already...

Is Cyberpunk 2077 worth picking up for the XBOX? I heard a lot of negative things about the Xbox version when it launched and wanted to k ow if those issues have been resolved and if the game itself is worth it.
Is the game suitable for both stealth and brute force approaches to problem solving?
Is it mostly free of annoying Inventory management and overcomplicated character development bits?
Any other positive or negative points? TIA ..read more

I get adverts on the socials for these Gacha style games Punishing Gray Raven, Wuthering Waves, Nikkei, etc. but all they show you is attractive characters in particle effect animations.
I hear their music tracks and they're often pretty damned impressive 'modern classical' pieces - Punishing Gray Raven is a standout for this.
But nothing ever seems to want to show me the gameplay in their adverts. I could hunt this down on YouTube, of course, but the consistent pattern of them just...

So I know HTML5 is pretty capable. Where can I safely play legal games via web browser with no plugins? What's neat and fun? I know EA has their Club Pogo thing which I might get for my mom later, but what else?
Bonus if they're wimpy computer or tablet friendly. Double bonus for pad friendly and touch friendly games ..read more

It's probably a sign that there doesn't appear to be a thread for this already.
The original Homeworld was hugely influential on teenage me, the first game I got really involved in a multiplayer community for. The series has lain fallow (Deserts of Kharak excluding) for two decades now, and following a massively successful crowdfunding campaign, the third entry in the mainline series finally came out a few weeks ago.
It... isn't very good, I think.
While visually gorgeous, every other...

+++My emotional cores return sensations of excitement and joy at operationally acceptable levels, and I choose to amend the parameters of my cerebral vaults in order to experience them.+++
From what I’ve read the in-mission gameplay is the same kind of XCOM-esque turn-based tactical affair as the previous game, but now you have a set of territories that you have to conquer, garrison and defend, and picking units for a mission might weaken the defences of the territory you draw them from...

Decided to give this a whirl a few days ago. My current mode is exhaustively exploring the newbie zones and character classes. I've played through the entire new tutorial + starting zone(s) storyline for the three alliances, using multiple characters. I'm enjoying it so far, though I am not a huge fan of how the microtransactions are so tightly integrated into the system. I understand this is done because ESO doesn't default to a subscription model (though one is available), so...

Apparently veteran game developers from Bioware, Naughty Dog, and 343 got together and are working on a new single player action adventure SF RPG. I'm hoping this ends up what I hoped Starfield would be.

While it touts "massive choice" and such, I'm taking that as marketing speech. However, time dilation is also supposed to have an effect on game play. That...

Interesting, first kickstarter from these guys, which worried me at first, but I'm looking at their bio on kickstarter and I'm more enthused (folks with NWN/Baldur's Gate (not 3) experience)
