Is anyone using Ovo Energy EV plan?

It looks pretty good for charging, 8c/kWh from midnight until 6am, free from 11am until 2pm. They do try to spread the estimated annual cost over 12 months (then adjust). I've seen a few (bad) reviews of the billing being wrong. In this scenario inaccuracy in the measuring/billing would probably defeat the purpose of the plan. Anyway, real life (or at least Reddit) feedback on how it is welcome. submitted by /u/undyau [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Looking for Queenslanders to complete a survey on electric vehicles for uni research

I hope this is okay to post here, just trying to reach as many people as possible. I am researching the effectiveness of current government policies and incentives in encouraging the public to buy electric vehicles to achieve Queensland's sustainability targets by 2030. The survey is based on the general public's knowledge and perception towards electric vehicles. Please go through the survey and answer as many questions as you can. No question is compulsory, and the survey should take no more than 5-10 minutes. All questions are completely anonymous and I do not require any personal informat ..read more

Anyone have experience with cheaper charging cables that can plug into a standard power point? I've seen chargers online from $150 all the way up past $500. What's the difference? I only intend to use it as a backup on road trips so maybe 3 times a year. submitted by /u/nst_enforcer [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

FBT Exemption on used vehicle

Hi all, I'm about to pull the trigger on an EV6 through a novated lease with my employer. I'm interested to see if anyone can help with a question I have around the FTB exemption, I understand it's available on EVs un $89k that don't have LCT but I'm unsure how that works for a used EV. I can get a 2024 EV6 GT-Line AWD for $88k which I know is fine but there are 2023 GT models with less than 2,000ks on them for around $86-$88k. On the ATO website it lists this under eligibility. "luxury car tax (LCT) has never been payable on the importation or sale of the car." Does this mean because the GT ..read more

These things: https://www.alchemycharge.com.au/ Wouldn't they be better off with 30 amp sockets? But then I guess some apartments have shitty wiring and couldn't handle it. submitted by /u/VS2ute [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Home charger install in Sydney

We bought a PHEV and I want to get a charger installed. I've contacted a bunch of companies and each have asked for photos of the fuse box and details of the distance to the charger then promptly ghosted me. It all feels a bit dodgy. I'm assuming that we need a new circuit and that probably means new fuse box etc and they don't want to do this work. Anyone had similar experience? Any tips or recommendations? submitted by /u/rolex_ronald [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Bu an EV out of state

With VIC scrapping its EV incentive, it got my thinking, is it possible to buy a car in another state and then just pay the stamp duty to register it in VIC. Or do the incentives only apply to residents (I am sure this is true, but thought i would ask)? submitted by /u/hooligansharma [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
