5…4…3…2…1 Ring in the New Year!!! This should feel delightful, right? After all, we’re celebrating and brimming with hope and optimism. It feels great to make that list of resolutions but secretly we know the truth. After the streamers have streamed and the balloons have popped, most of our well-intentioned resolutions will have faded just a few days in. Of course, they have. We can’t change ingrained habits and ways of thinking with just a few days of willpower. It’s even more difficult for those of us battling the diseases of anxiety and depression. We stay where we are, finding a level and ..read more

The holidays can be draining. The festive season is supposed to be a time of joy (at least if  commercials and cheesy TV movies are to be believed), but when it doesn’t match how we really feel, the pressure to be merry and bright can feel suffocating. If the expectation of holiday cheer just brings a sense of dread, you’re not alone. According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), 64% of Americans with mental health conditions actually feel worse during the weeks between Thanksgiving and New Years. On top of expected holiday stress, this is also the time when Seasonal Affect ..read more

1. It can make ketamine even more effective. Studies have shown that working with a qualified therapist after ketamine treatment can lead to stronger and longer-lasting results.  After a ketamine infusion, the brain is able to create new neurons and form new pathways that shape how we think and what we do. This  means that any habits you want to build—like daily exercise, practicing guitar, or being kinder to yourself—are more likely to stick if you work on them after your treatment.  Because the window of time right after a ketamine infusion can be a crucial aid to changing you ..read more

Last year, Canadian researchers completed the world’s first-ever study on ketamine therapy for gambling addiction. Modern research has previously confirmed ketamine’s potential for treating addiction, but this study is the first to specifically investigate ketamine therapy for addiction to gambling. Compulsive gambling (also called “gambling disorder”) is a serious and potentially devastating problem, but it remains poorly understood and difficult to treat. While further studies are needed, research suggests that ketamine may have unique potential for treating gambling addiction by reducing cr ..read more

By Barby Ingle I am a 50-year-old woman (about to be on 11/18) who has had Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy for 20 years. The condition has changed names over the years, but this is what I call it, as it is what my providers diagnosed with me. As with many RSD cases it took my doctors quite some time to figure out the proper diagnosis, after I had an auto accident and additional medical traumas. Other names for the condition include Complex Regional Pain Syndrome, Algoneurodystrophy, Central Pain Syndrome, and Causalgia. Interesting for me is that I have two other family members affected by this d ..read more

Music is a powerful tool: it’s been shown to reduce stress hormone levels, regulate blood pressure, and even enhance treatment outcomes for mood disorders. When it comes to ketamine therapy, music can play an important role in the experience we have.  While ketamine infusion is a safe and effective treatment, it can be somewhat intimidating for those who have never undergone a similar procedure before. The right soundtrack can be the key to easing your mind, letting go of anxiety and stress, and making the most out of your ketamine session.  Making Your Own Playlist Having your favor ..read more

Welcome, 2023! Ketamine Wellness Centers is entering its 12th year of providing ketamine services to patients throughout the United States and from other countries. Wow, how time flies. KWC ended 2021 providing just under 10,000 infusions (9,766 exactly). In 2022, KWC provided over 12,000 infusions (12,054) — a 23% increase over the previous year. The other significant change we are seeing is the large jump in our insurance-based trea ..read more

Anonymous I am an Army veteran and have struggled with PTSD, MDD, and CRPS for many years. Most of the antidepressants I have tried provided only minimal relief. The short-term memory loss I experienced with ECT was unbearable to me. Of the numerous SSRIs and SNRIs I had been prescribed over the years there was one SNRI that offered relief from depression and anxiety for several years. That is until after my 25-year old son died. Then my 32-year old daughter died less than two months later. The addition of complicated grief was too much and I began to experience suicidal ideation almost daily ..read more
