Hello everyone, after some advice. I've toured on my 'bird but with a large tank bag. Heading off into Europe this year for a bit longer so I've purchased a Givi rack to give me a pannier/back box option. I don't really want to mess with the indicators as I'll need to remove the panniers for everyday use. Do any of you knowledgeable souls have any advice about which Givi panniers would be suitable. Many thanks Paul UK ..read more

Arai helmets fit my headshape very well and so have always been my lid of choice. However for me, there are several issue which Arai don't cater for: a) built in Bluetooth to avoid extra helmet wind noise/ drag plus ugly aesthetics of a lopsided lump attached to the outside of a sleek chique lid, and b) a drop down sun visor/ "fighter pilot" shades I solved a) by porting the working parts from a Schubeth/ Cardo BT collar into my Arai collar and made it Qi/wireless charging. Finding that motorbike gear fits very small... Anyone else?

Dear All, I am really enjoying this forum and am using it a lot at the moment. Carb vs FI, best brake pads (EBC), rec/reg problems, should you delink the brakes, is it a good beginner bike, is it too heavy????? Anyway, before I am equipped to begin forming my own blackbird opinions, I need to kit up (and pass my test). I went to Fowlers of Bristol yesterday with the sole purpose of getting a helmet that fit. The customer service was amazing, I had my head squeezed, my questions... Givi Monokey top box won't latch onto my top plate.

I bought a (used) Maxia top box off ebay and it arrived today. Unfortunately the top box will not attach securely to the top plate. It'll go part of the way down but there is no snap to indicate that it is properly locked into the latch, and you can easily pull it back off. Weirdly it'll attach to the sides where the panniers would go absolutely fine, and it's very secure that way. Obviously I want to keep it on the top plate though (it being pretty big). My panniers will happily attach... Givi Monokey top box won't latch onto my top plate ..read more

Hi, I'm looking for hard luggages for the bird. Problem is that the SW/Motech support is indicated as 99-07 only and I have a '97. Same on Givi, their website shows only top cases for the '97. Does anyone knows if the 99-07 can be fitted on a '97 or if there is a major obstacle? Thanks ..read more

Hello all, I have been wanting a hard bag solution for sometime. Like many on here I like the look of the Beetle Bags but they are nearly impossible to find. 2 years ago I bought Joe Rocket soft bags and although they hold a lot, and I got them cheap, I really wanted Hard bags. Fast forward to a month ago when I was reminded of how I made Victory Beetle Bags work on my Vulcan by creatively crafting my own brackets and I thought why not try it again. After a few days I found a set of... Just installed my new Viking Bags, full write up inside with pics ..read more

I'm still in the midst of shopping for a Bird and really just waiting for some folks to make time to meet and report back to me on bike that I've identified as high level candidate. So while I'm getting my Birds in a row, I'm working on pricing out this and that to set it up for travel. So what's everyone's favorite luggage? I talked to Givi yesterday and learned that SW-Motech makes a system for mounting side cases of different brands. Many years ago I enjoyed having only a top case for... Heated Gloves - Ixon

Hi folks, Christmas has brought me some spending cash and I'm considering heated gloves for the first time. I have heated bars but that still means my fingertips get cold on long m'way rides if coverimg my levers in heavy traffic. A quick google on reviews (e.g. MCN etc) threw up wired v battery options and indeed combo ones even with/ without Bluetooth apps too! One set caught my eye as being different. Ixon say they use Clim8 tech so it's various thermostats inside the gloves in... Heated Gloves - Ixon ..read more
