Hase pino recumbent tandem electrification

Hey, So I've always wanted a hase pino for touring but couldn't afford it. But I think a second hand one may be available and within my financial grasp! However, I have been injured this year and in general will never be as fit as I was, and live in one of the windiest cities in the world which is also full of hills. So I'm being realistic that if I was to get this, I'd probably need to justify the spend by also using it as a cargo bike and getting groceries and such, and I probably need to electrifiy it so I am able to get this everywhere I want. I've been quoted about 3.5k nzd which i think ..read more

Existential Crisis: Keep the 2010 Catrike Trail or the 2013 Catrike Villager??!

Alright, folks, I need some insight on aerodynamics, gearing, cranks, usage, etc. Here's the shakedown: I'm 44, no health issues, per se, and a longtime road cyclist, competitive, rail trail riding, etc. for years. Recently (and by sheer happenstance of my boredom on FB marketplace) I purchased two Catrikes (one 2018 Catrike Villager [not pictured] for my wife and a 2010 Trail for me.) We intended to play with them and sell them, but alas, we were infected. We absolutely love them. They're fantastic for trail riding and (bonus) we can drink a beer AND cycle?! That being said, I happened u ..read more

Hip Flexor Discomfort

Hello I’m wondering if anyone else has had hip flexor discomfort riding on recumbents and what they did about it. Lifting my leg on the recovery stroke seems to be really putting stress on it. I’m riding an ice adventure about 10 miles 3-4 times per week. I found that leaning my seat back all the way helped but I still feel it. Several months ago I think I strained something in the front of my leg, maybe my hip flexor, riding up a hill. I’d like to ride more but I’m afraid of injuring it again. Thanks in advance. submitted by /u/redrabbitromp [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Merax Bike

I just received an early model of a Merax bike. It came with no manual so I wrote to the company and asked for one. They replied, “Could you please confirm the store name, order number or tracking number, order date, buyer name, shipping address and the SKU#(in this format with large print:xxxxxxxx-xAA on the package of the product or it is listed in the order details in the order history) for us to find the order info and assist you further?”. I do not have access to that information especially seeing it is an early model. I even asked if they could tell me how to use the attached setti ..read more

Size 9.5 feet. Pedaling Innovation Catalyst vs. Kona Wah Wah 2 pedals? Help me decide.

It seems like that the recumbent community is more exposed to Pedaling Innovations' marketing compared to communities for uprights, so I might ask this in other bike subreddits that are not recumbent related later. My conundrums are as follows: I have heard the benefits (from P.I mostly) about pedals long enough to cover most of mid foot, but I always take reviews that are overtly gushy or standoffish with a pinch of salt, it's like the round vs oval vs irregular shaped rings debate, you ended up with more questions than answers. The other doubt is on the Catalyst pedal's width which is narro ..read more

Like the title says, I'm looking for a quad recumbent. Years ago I saw ads for PedalCoupe, who made quads, but they appear to have gone out of business. Are there any other manufacturers out there that make quads? submitted by /u/DarthBeavis1968 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I mean, how and why? Is there a advantage that I don't understand? I love the behavior of drum-brakes but disks are easier to service and lighter overall right? submitted by /u/edwinlegters [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
