Over the last few weeks, I have been trying to come up to speed with different RV stand-alone electrical systems.
First, I had no idea there were so many systems. Now I have the Lithionics, but sadly on a Mercedes-Bends 24' footer. I truly wish they made an MB in 144WB, as it would already be parked in the driveway.
During my short review, I don't feel one foot more in knowledge. You have Volta, Dragonfly, ECO Trek, and Battle Born which is also partly Lithionics.
I'm looking for a few...

Yesterday, I got my new Mercedes Benz "Sprinter" van Hood struts and was able to put them on myself. Being old does have its limitations and more so with the Florida heat in the 90s.
I was once proud of the fact that I could get my yard done in four days. That was walking and picking up any fallen oak branches from 23 live oak trees in the yard. Then I would mow, edge Vac up my fallen leaves, blowing off the walkways and driveway myself. But I must admit falling on, face onto the concrete...

After two winters of cold weather camping I got tired of fighting the power cord when stowing it. Also I have had two times where the two year old OEM twist lock cord was installed but needed to be jiggled before the RV had shore power. That is not good.
So I bit the bullet and built an all season flexible power cord with a 30 amp SmartPlug. I made it 35 feet in length because at home I park in front of the garage and power the RV from the garage. The SmartPlug advertising states that the...

I have a couple quick questions as I venture into the RV world - weekend warrior style.
1. Would you recommend getting an inspection for a new camper van?
2. Is being a Mr. Fix-it a prerequisite for owning a Class B?
Thanks in advance ..read more

Son and I had a planned end of February camping trip to Michigan's UP. Prepping my RV for the trip the propane system failed due to propane solenoid valve failure. Night time lows for two of the three nights were projected to be 12f-14f. And the first two days high ~18f. Did a work around and the trip took place as scheduled. We stayed warm and had a great time.

Hi. Looking to buy a first RV. Looking at Jayco Comet. On RVtrader, dealer prices are around $98k. MSRP seems to be $130-140k. What's a reasonable estimate if someone comes with a low hassle cash deal? Are those prices typically firm or is below 90k possible? Thanks in advance ..read more

Hello, I am new to the Forum. I am interested in buying a 1996 pleasure way that I see on rvtrader.com, and it looks to be in pretty good shape. My question is, it's listed at $19,500, is that a good price? The only reason why I think it might be a little on the high side is that the NADA value is much less than that.
Thanks for any input.

I'm looking into getting Ram Promaster as a camper van (would do no build, not worth it with my camping style, I like basic).
Seems like there're some reports of engines failing very early (in the 60-70K mileage range?)
Also, I looked around for insurance and Progressive, for example, refuses to insure Ram Promasters as non-commercial, while it has no problem with Fort Transits and other vans as non-commercial. Are they extra difficult to insure as non-commercial? (commercial is very expensive ..read more

We are considering buying a 2011 Airstream Interstate 3500 Lounge class b motorhome and would like some pros and cons on this unit. It has 70k miles but overall appears to be in good condition. A few questions, Does this Mercedes diesel engine require DEF, What tires would you recommend (LT215/85R16), are there any particular issues with this model? Finally what would you consider to be a good and fair dealer and private purchase price? Amy info will be appreciated ..read more
