Half term, back home in Kernow for the week. Tides are all wrong, but you’ve got to take what you can get, so a hour or so early morning before the family get up is my hand. Not ideal but I’ll take it. Been pretty flat for the last couple of mornings and have targeted some boulder strewn rough ground on the ebb. Few signs of fish, despite looking ideal for a top water session. After nothing on some weedless SP’s, switched down to a shallow runner and immediately was hit by a schoolie on a K2... i went for a 4 hour outing last night (low tide around 11pm), i was back to go to work at 7am the weekend was a bit hectic for me because i played the nurse (too many sick people at the moment, everyone takes turns...) as soon as i arrived, i went to the first spot and when i got to the water's edge, i discovered "salad" everywhere: not great, it caught the line and the hard lures all the time... so, it will only be soft lures as soon as i... marathon outing ..read more

Until the wind stopped play I've been targeting good sized schoolies (45-50, plus the odd 50+) which are feeding on 4-5" sprats. If they are within reach I use a ghost lancon Frosty, which has been deadly- I tend to leave it in the take zone, retrieving as little as possible, and fish often hook up when static. I've had to resort to daddy Patch when they move out of range, and I find (probably due to its size) it will only attract fish when I walk the dog, which gets chases, but few hook... walking the dog ..read more

A dire season for me with quite a few blanks lately. Fri morning, decided on a pre work session and a 4.15am alarm call. A road closure and diversion meant an extra mile walk and limited fishing time. A last cast 50 was the reward though.... A very small window sat evening saw another 1hr session, but heavy rain the previous night meant the water was coloured. Again, a last minute blank saver...this one a 55..... Both falling to a pearl guffer on a 7/0... Latest two sessions ..read more

It’s been a while ? since June and up until this week I’d only managed to fish on 4 occasions. 3 blanks with the lures and an unsuccessful session on bait with my lad. This week though I managed somehow with everything else on my list of things to do to squeeze in not one, but two outings chucking plastic. Monday night I hook into Bass no1 after a friend asked if I wanted a cast on his new rod ? not big by all means but it’s been soooooo very long since I’d caught anything. [ATTACH... Hello all, Yorkshire based lure angler here. I currently do all of my fishing in North Wales, primarily on the isle of Anglesey (used to live there many years ago, but I left 15 years ago now). I have a young family and work commitments so in this current phase of my life I only get to the coast once a month for a couple of days, twice if I'm very lucky throughout the entire season. I had a good run in the early season but have been plagued with awful weather conditions since really - I... Pembrokeshire crew ..read more

Bass that is not what you are all thinking. I haven't fished for ages bad neck and crap weather putting a temporary pay to my fishing, but managed to get out for over a hour or so this afternoon and managed a single fish off top on a sammy the fish took close in and gave a good scrap for it's size. A good conditioned bass safely returned. Nice to have got out again ..read more

Evening all, it’s been a while since I’ve posted anything on here, so I thought I’d check in and let you know what I’ve been up to since July. As you will probably guess, it’s been mainly lure fishing , but after my best ever start to a season, it’s been more of a struggle over the last couple of months. It’s not all bad though, as while the blanks have been mounting more than I would have liked, I’ve also kept the numbers ticking over too. The vast majority of these fish were... Here I am on my way for 2 sessions, I have been waiting for this moment for a long time: one on Friday night (low tide at 3am) and one on Saturday (low tide at 4pm) At first glance, the sea is calm on each beach (I plan to go to 3 different ones) which means that I will move a little from one place to another (+- 45 minutes) but obviously, depending on the results, I can stay longer in a specific area. The sky is quite clear, we can see the different constellations perfectly, the wind is... two tides ..read more

'Strangely' enough I have much more ££ invested in heavy GT/Tuna tackle that I only use once a year or so than in my 'everyday' gear. Looking to treat myself to a nice PE1 / Bass setup that I will use way more than all the heavy stuff. What would your 'top' bass rods be? There are so many out there now its hard to pick one. I currently fish my travel rod, an Apia Grandage 5-piece with a Stella SW 4000, but I'm sure these's better stuff out there. I currently have my sights on the... Best rod, cost no object ..read more
