Especially with that one verse. You’ve already thought of it! You know, the one that says, “Her children rise up and call her blessed.” Ughhh …  I’m a homeschool mom! I’m the one that must make those kids sit down and do their math, learn cursive, write papers, and listen to hundreds and hundreds of read-alouds. I’m the one that requires them to eat green things, do household chores, and reminds them that just because everyone else is doing it doesn’t mean that our family will. After all of that, they will never “rise up and call me blessed ..read more

In both parties, there are vast differences between the candidates running in the primary where only 28-40% of registered voters vote. Unfortunately, it is the candidate who doesn’t support the nuances of our position for freedom who get put on the general election ballot and leave us unrepresented. For this reason, I encourage you to take the primary election seriously by investigating the candidates on your ballot and voting! During this legislative session I spent most of my time trying to educate legislators on the finer points of home education freedom and parental rights. Those who say t ..read more

As I am writing this post over the weekend, there have been 467 House bills and 226 Senate bills introduced thus far in the session. Many of the bills are still waiting to make it through the entire process. Some were just introduced last week and will begin the committee process this week. Last session, the legislature introduced 5 significant bills during the last week, so they may still have some more tricks up their sleeves ..read more

There has been an international push over many decades to create a right of education for children. The United Nations (UN) through UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization) has been at the forefront of this push and they have established several treaties beginning in 1960 with the UN Convention Against Discrimination in Education. Interestingly, the United States (US) has declined to ratify these treaties. Homeschoolers fought hard against the ratification by the US Senate of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) since it was signed ..read more

We established a support circle with like-minded families in the following ways, which might be helpful suggestions for you to consider and begin implementing: creating a support net for your special needs child , especially while preparing them for adulthood. How do we find people willing to befriend and help care for our child now and into the future? Well, we can consciously make an effort to make friendships with like-minded believers. God’s Word exhorts us to fellowship with those of like faith, whose teaching is biblical, even eating together and praying with each other. This should be o ..read more

Well, okay, to be honest, some of these ambitions were rattling around in my head early on in my homeschool journey. But then I had the privilege of hearing Tedd Tripp speak at a conference. I was intrigued by this man’s love for Jesus. He spoke about wanting his kids to be dazzled by the Lord Jesus. There are so many things in this world to tempt and attract our children. How many of our children are smitten with God? How many of the young people around us are lured, seduced, and ensnared by the bright lights and tempting glitter of “Vanity Fair?” Admittedly, the world does have something to ..read more

And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’ When we agree to take on the responsibility of parenting and home educating children who are extra special, God will bless our efforts as we seek to trust Him now and for the rest of their lives. It is often an arduous and difficult task, yet caring for the least of these is a most honorable calling. The season of their childhood will pass, and at some point they will likely live to become adults. If your child is significantly delayed cognitively or physically, you w ..read more
