Two people have been charged in connection with commercial burglaries in Wallingford that involved a stolen ATM and the attempted theft of an ATM in January.
Alex Sierra, 31, and Ethan Nieves, 22, both of New Britain, each face charges, according to the Wallingford Police Department.
Police said officers on Jan. 20 at 4:30 a.m. responded to the Valero gas station at 68 North Turnpike Road after receiving a burglary alarm. Police found that the front door of the business had been shattered and that an ATM was missing from inside.

A man was taken to an area hospital Wednesday and is expected to be charged after firing a pellet gun at police officers in Hamden following two reports of others being shot earlier in the evening.
The initial report was received just before 5 p.m. by someone who was fishing in the area of Spruce Bank Road when they were shot in the arm by what they believed was a BB gun, according to the Hamden Police Department.
The victim said the shooter appeared to have left in the vehicle, police said. Officers were unable to locate a suspect.

A man was arrested on assault and firearm charges in connection with a shooting that occurred following an altercation with his brother in West Haven earlier this week.
Adam Keit, 31, was taken into custody after authorities found the gun they believe was used in a shooting that was reported Tuesday at an apartment on Coleman Street, according to the West Haven Police Department.

Authorities are looking for information about the owner of a dog that had to be euthanized after recently being found abandoned in Hartford.
The dog, named Brooke by Animal Control Officers, suffered from “one of the worst cases of pyometra,” according to the Hartford Animal Shelter.
Pyometra is a serious and life-threatening infection in the uterus, according to VCA animal hospitals.

Two Naugatuck police officers fired their guns during an officer-involved shooting on Thursday that sent one person to the hospital.
Officers at 9:15 a.m. responded to Baummer’s Pond after receiving the report of a man armed with a knife, which led to a confrontation, according to the Naugatuck Police Department.
During the incident, two police officers fired their guns, police said.

State police have arrested a New London man in connection with a fiery rollover crash on the Gold Star Memorial Bridge in Groton last April that killed the driver of an oil tanker.
Reginald Collins, 59, turned himself in Wednesday at the Troop E barracks on charges of negligent homicide with a motor vehicle, improperly parking on a highway, operating an unregistered motor vehicle and operating without insurance, according to Connecticut State Police.

Quick actions by a pair of barbers in East Hartford prevented what appeared to be a tragedy destined to happen when a toddler was seen bolting toward a busy intersection.
Video of the incident, shared by the East Hartford Police Department Wednesday, shows the barbers spot the child outside the window of Look Sharp Barbershop running along Brown Street toward the busy intersection of Main Street where numerous cars are traveling in both directions.

One person was injured after jumping out of a second-story window to escape a fire at a home in West Hartford Wednesday.
The blaze broke out shortly before 4:30 p.m. when fire crews received the report of a kitchen fire at a multi-family home on Elmhurst Street, according to Greg H. Priest, chief of the West Hartford Fire Department.
Before crews got to the scene, dispatchers were told someone had jumped from the home to escape the fire, Priest said in a statement.

A Connecticut woman, planning medical leave from her job in order to undergo a hysterectomy, was allegedly harassed by her supervisor and co-workers, who taunted her about whether she was having a sex-change operation, according to a lawsuit.
The woman was ultimately terminated from her job at Chase Family Movement Disorder Center in Vernon, according to her lawsuit against Hartford HealthCare, which owns the center.
