I wanted to focus on 2007 and finish my WOTY list for that year, but my watching motivation has been low in the last few weeks. I only got one match watched for 2007! That starts with Umaga vs Triple H in a Street Fight from WWE Cyber Sunday on October 28. Positive points for keeping it sub 18 minutes, but minus points for both wearing their regular wrestling gear. I really like the opening few minutes of starting on the stage and brawling back to the ring. I also enjoyed Umaga destroying Trips’ ribs all match, and the visual of him running across three tables to squash him was cool. However ..read more

It was oddly the year of “Last Man Standing” matches, with three of them making the list. Overall, though, this was a disappointing year for great matches. Regardless, this list has some gems! A great week of action! I hope to finally finish my 2007 MOTY list next week, so I watched some great matches this week! ***** One match I watched during the pandemic that I was high on, 8.5/10, but is outside the MOTY range, was Bryan Danielson vs. Takeshi Morishima from Manhattan Mayhem II, and I felt I needed to revisit it. Luckily, it’s on their YouTube channel. As it turns out, I was pretty right the first time. The crowd is hot, the action is intense, but it really doesn’t hit me on that elite level. It’s more of these I’m super tough, almost reckless stiff matches that always leave me ..read more

Marigold Fields Forever (May 20, 2024) Review

I love being able to follow a new promotion from the beginning, and since Stardom was my favourite promotion for so long, seeing Rossy, Nanae, and Fuka getting together again to start a new one has my interest. Not to mention taking three of my favourite Stardom wrestlers along. I woke up slightly early at 5:30 AM on this Victoria Day long weekend Monday to watch the very first Marigold show live on Wrestle Universe! Having English commentary and living with the production, this show has felt like a dream after all the delays and such with Stardom. From the very beginning of introducing each ..read more

I was able to fit in a lot of good stuff this week, both from 2007 and 2024! So, let’s not dilly-dally! ***** Continuing with my 2007 watch to prep my Wrestler of the Year list this week. There were a few candidates I needed to spend some more time with. Starting with Mistico. I watched Mistico vs Averno from CMLL on January 5, 2007. Mistico had Scott Steiner’s chainmail on during his entrance! To add to the great visuals, the sneak attack and Snake Eyes into the steps looked great, as did Averna going to the ring with the camera catching Mistico rising in the back. This first fall is really n ..read more

Hey folks! Welcome to the Northern Lights Bomb Wrestling Review #1! The DEAN~!!! show I reviewed here was such a great tribute to Dean Rasmussen. Dean was such a huge part of my early getting to know wrestling outside the WWF period that I want to pay homage to him, as well. So, here we are, this new format. In the past, I updated you on what I was watching right now with weekly or monthly posts ranking the matches, and this will be taking its place. Yes, it will update you on what I’m watching, but it will not just cover the great matches in a list form. I feel like that method was getting ra ..read more

IWA Japan Texas Bronco New Coming Review (November 17, 1994)

It’s been way too long since I reviewed my last IWA Japan show, and I really need to satisfy that itch for insane wrestling that only IWA Japan can fulfill. This is from November 17, 1994, at the Yokohama Cultural Gymnasium with 4,795 fans, or at least cagematch says. We have Japanese, Puerto Ricans, Mexicans, Americans, and a Canadian, so let’s go! After the ring announcer says something, the “Eye of the Tiger” from Rocky plays, and each wrestler on the card makes an entrance and just stands in the ring with the others. The song ends and has to be repeated. This takes so long, and I am transf ..read more

WrestleMania XL Review

I haven’t been this excited about a WrestleMania since 2004. Vince is gone, and they have an SA policy. Kevin Dunne is gone, too. The production is great, and the storylines heading into this one have been amazing. LFG! WrestleMania XL: Saturday April 6, 2024 Philadelphia, PA Lincoln Financial Field The new button was pretty cool. After a nice intro video, Michael Cole gives us a weather update and wonders how the cold will affect the wrestlers. That’s a nice touch. Hey, it’s the proper USA anthem, not the song Vince always wanted. Truly, this is a new era! Speaking of a new era, Trips is here ..read more
