Folk music is music from a country, usually composed and performed by the people of that country.  There is Australian folk music (think of Waltzing Matilda) American folk music (Home on the range) and if you named a country there would be a well known folk song from there. Most folk songs are very old and the composer is often anonymous, because we just don’t know who originally wrote the song.
