NATCHEZ — Joseph Smith of BlackNatchez.org has continued his work to spruce up buildings and the area around the MLK Triangle at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street and St. Catherine Street in Natchez, but his choice of paint colors is not sitting well with some in the city. NATCHEZ—The fate of a request by the owner of the former Natchez Children’s Home is still in limbo after the planning commission held a special hearing on the matter on June 6. Bishop Stanley Searcy of New Hope Mission Baptist Church, which owns the building at 806 N. Union St., has applied to the city to re-establish the grandfathered-in use of the building as a children’s home. NATCHEZ — Natchez native Bob Buseck, executive director of the not-for-profit Mississippi Coding Academies, told the Natchez Mayor and Board of Aldermen on Tuesday that the organization will open its fifth coding academy in Natchez by late summer.
