DELMARVA – The Law Enforcement Leaders of Delmarva sheriffs and police chiefs met for the first time to discuss their challenges, their goals, and what’s to come for their department.

OCEAN CITY, Md. – In Ocean City, many came out to the convention center to help save lives.
The Blood Bank of Delmarva hosted its summer blood drive Wednesday. They say this is crucial as school is wrapping up because schools make up 25% of the supply throughout the year. The blood bank is in need of O-negative and O-positive blood.

BERLIN, Md. – The Berlin Police Department is celebrating a win for the agency and the town.
The department has some new people coming out of the academy, who will be filling the positions of four law enforcement officials who have retired within the last year.
Chief of Police, Arnold Downing, said thanks to the efforts of town officials, the department was able to get back up to par.
“The town itself, and the mayor and the council, just made a commitment to say that retaining good law enforcement, and hiring good law enforcement officers, was a priority,” Chief Downing said.

EASTON, Md. – Police have released additional details in a stolen vehicle investigation late last month.
During the overnight hours of May 30th, officers were called to Hertrich Chevrolet in Easton for a report of suspicious activity. The caller informed dispatchers that they saw a suspicious person and truck driving around in the parking lot. When officers arrived at the business, they saw a white Chevy Silverado with Virginia registration leaving the parking lot. EASTON, Md. – Easton Police have charged a Preston woman following a child neglect investigation.
Last month, detectives received a call from the Talbot County Department of Social Services, Child Protective Services, for a report of a daycare provider possibly assaulting a 2-year-old child. Further investigation led police to discover that an employee of Best Buddies Learning Center, 76-year-old Linda Perry, was caught on surveillance video spanking and dropping the child. The child was not seriously harmed and did not require medical attention.

SALISBURY, Md. – The Maryland State Fire Marshals Office is investigating a series of attempted arsons in Salisbury early Wednesday morning.
Just after 3 a.m., the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office was called to respond to four homes in the 1000 block of Tuscola Avenue and one home in the 800 block of Oneida Avenue for reports of attempted arson at each location. Investigators reportedly found destructive devices commonly referred to as “Molotov cocktails” placed at the front doors of each residence.

PITTSVILLE, Md. – Pittsville residents could be seeing a real property tax increase, if town commissioners approve it.
Town leaders are proposing an increase from $0.2875 per $100 of real property assessed to $0.30 per $100. Commission President Sean McHugh says that works out to between $10 and $30 more per year, depending on how large a person’s property is.
McHugh says the last several changes to the rate have only brought decreases. Should the currently proposed increase go into effect, McHugh says Pittsville’s property taxes would remain the lowest in Wicomico County.

WICOMICO COUNTY, Md. – Wednesday marks two years since Wicomico County Sheriff’s Corporal Glenn Hilliard’s murder in the line of duty.
Wounds Still Fresh
Glenn lost his life while attempting to serve an arrest warrant in Pittsville. And while the anniversary brings painful memories, Glenn’s widow, Tashica, says she wants to use it to celebrate his life and legacy.

DORCHESTER CO., Md. – The Board of Education of Dorchester County has announced that Dr. Jymil Thompson has been appointed Superintendent of Schools.
Dr. Thompson has been serving as Interim Superintendent since March 2nd.

HURLOCK, Md. – Fire marshals are working to determine the cause of a fire that destroyed a Hurlock shed.
Just before 4 p.m. Tuesday, firefighters were called to 4312 Pheasant Drive for the reported blaze. Crews were able to control the fire quickly.
The cause remains under investigation. Total damage has been estimated at $25,000.
