Warren residents might have more access to food trucks if the City Council approves a new ordinance that sets guidelines for those vendors.
A food truck ordinance is currently in the works and the City Council held a first-read on it during a June 11 meeting.
The ordinance would set requirements for several things including location, signage, music, and hours of operation.
“The idea of the ordinance is to promote and encourage more food trucks because I think everyone likes them,” said Council Secretary Mindy Moore. “We just want to make sure that we have something in place and that we have ev ..read more

Six weeks ago, the public relations firm Bellmont Partners reopened its renovated Edina, Minnesota, office with a catch: Not every employee would have a permanent desk.
Like an increasing number of employers wrestling with work-from-home trends, Bellmont adopted a musical-chairs-like seating system, albeit more high-tech, commonly called “hoteling.” Only 12 of Bellmont’s office workers have an assigned desk. Fifteen others who work mostly from home now use a new software app to reserve a desk for a day whenever they come into the office, which Bellmont requires ..read more

WASHINGTON — A handful of lawmakers say they plan to press the issue of the threat to humans posed by generative artificial intelligence after a recent bipartisan Senate report largely sidestepped the matter.
“There’s been no action taken yet, no regulatory action taken yet, at least here in the United States, that would restrict the types of actions that could lead to existential, or health, or other serious consequences,” Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah, said in an interview. “And that’s something we’d like to see happen.”

A group of law enforcement officials touted the formation of a new organization Tuesday to endorse federal candidates and argue that Congress has not done enough to protect public safety.
The announcement followed new crime statistics that the White House said showed President Joe Biden’s policies at work, and during an election where public perceptions about crime is seen a tool Republicans can use to win seats in Congress.
The new group, Police Leaders for Community Safety, plans to push for stronger gun laws, such as closing loopholes, requiring back ..read more

WASHINGTON (AP) — Donald Trump made a triumphant return Thursday to Capitol Hill, whipping up House and Senate Republicans in his first meetings since the Jan.6, 2021 attacks, embraced by GOP lawmakers who find themselves newly energized by his bid to retake the White House.
Despite the federal charges against Trump for conspiring to overturn the 2020 election, and his recent guilty verdict in an unrelated hush money trial, the Republican former president arrived emboldened as the party’s presumptive nominee. He has successfully purged the GOP o ..read more

Eight years after one of the deadliest shootings on U.S. soil struck Pulse nightclub in Orlando, keeping memories of the 49 killed that night alive was the focus of families and survivors gathered Wednesday evening.
Siclaly Santiago-Leon said their memory was most important. She’s the cousin of Luis Daniel Wilson-Leon, who was slain in the attack on the LGBTQ safe haven.
“One of the greatest heartaches for a grieving person can be the fear that their loved ones will be forgotten,” Santiago-Leon said. “As family members of the 49 angels, we have vowed to never let that happen.”

Bachman-Turner Overdrive is takin’ care of business once again.
The Canadian rock now, of course, bears little resemblance to the juggernaut of the 70s, whose parade of hits included “Let It Ride,” the chart-topping “You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet,” “Roll On Down the Highway” and “Takin’ Care of Business.” BTO logged three Top 6 albums on the Billboard 200 between 1973-75, and five consecutive gold albums during that time.
BTO has splintered and regrouped on several occasions. These days it’s led by Randy Bachman, with his son Tal also on board. Co-founder C.F. Turner and golden-era guitarist Blai ..read more
