One of the most important components when implementing security systems for healthcare facilities involves developing a strategic plan for the video camera surveillance system. Doing so will save time and avoid wasting limited financial resources, and also help to accomplish your initial goal—protect people and property. That is what it all boils down to: protecting people and property.
Reports clearly show that illegal and even violent activity in hospitals and other physical healthcare operations has been on an upward trajectory in recent years. The COVID-19 pandemic, and now the more recent ..read more

By now most everyone has seen the alarming video footage from across the country of gangs of shoplifters brazenly walking into higher-end mall retail stores and grabbing merchandise by the armload and dashing out the door as quick as they came in. And it all happens in less than a minute. As much as $30,000, $100,000 and $200,000 in fashionable clothing and apparel vanishing into a getaway car in the parking lot. Unbelievable.
Way back in 2011 the FBI reported that “organized retail crime” was a $30 billion industry. A 2020 survey from the National Retail Federation found that organized retail ..read more

Access Control for Multifamily – Don’t Think Bottom Line, Think Long-term Benefits
Robert Burton said it best, “pennywise and pound foolish.” Who’s Robert Burton? It doesn’t really matter, but he was certainly right. Especially when talking about Access Control security system costs for multi-family housing.
As the cost of lumber, labor and other building project essentials continue to rise, multifamily general contractors and developers are feeling the pressure to sometimes cut corners to keep budgets from ballooning, while still trying to produce a quality finished product worthy of stamping ..read more

What could these two possibly have in common? Not long ago, we got a call from a large St. Louis design-and-build construction company starting a new Class-A multifamily apartment project near Forest Park in The Grove neighborhood, a couple of blocks off Manchester Rd. Their project manager told us that a couple of nights a week local thieves strolled onto their jobsite boldly stealing hundreds of dollars’ worth of hand tools. Battery-powered hand tools.
This meant that the morning after he wasted precious manhours filing lengthy insurance claims and buying new tools to keep his union-sc ..read more

One look at this jaw-dropping neighborhood crime map pinpointing the incredible number of various crimes reported in the City of St. Louis, approximately between March 9 and April 10, 2022, it’s no wonder the first ten minutes of every St. Louis TV news broadcast is an exhaustive rundown of violent shootings, car break-ins and robberies. Home and commercial building fires also share screen time.
But the crimes identified on this crime map are only the tip of the iceberg. Many crimes go unreported to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, for various reasons, and dozens more never make t ..read more

When choosing and installing an access control system for your St. Louis Metro Area commercial business, you will find obvious similarities, but depending on your security needs, building size and configuration, number of entry points and sensitive areas in critical need of protection, and the number of employees, one size definitely does not fit all. An access control system for a retail store or other heavily trafficked public space will necessitate far different security features than an access control system for a multifamily apartment building.
At its most basic level, a physical access ..read more

With each new year comes a feeling of hope and renewal. An opportunity for us to hit the reset button, assess where we are, who we are, and take a fresh look at the year ahead and what we want to accomplish.
For most of us this typically means making a list of personal goals, or as we call them this time of year, resolutions. The list usually includes a renewed vigilance to lose weight, exercise more, watch less TV, spend more quality time with family…and clean out the garage.
If you’re a business owner though, you probably have a second list of resolutions for the new year. That could be adop ..read more
