Ok so I just cannot deny that the slow start to warmer weather has been a struggle for me. I’m beyond ready for warmer days! We got a hint of warmth a few weeks ago and lucked out that I had a session booked with this sweet family!
Perhaps PNW warm weather is arriving soon?
I was born in Nevada and I think my body still craves that dry desert heat. I remember when I moved here, I could not believe all the green and truly thought my parents moved me to the rainforest. I was a bit of a feral woods child and spent most of my time exploring with my dog. I explored so much I was immune to battle s ..read more

I love that so many of my Seattle Newborn Photography Session clients live in the cutest little neighborhoods all over the city. I went to college at Seattle University and at the time, I was lucky enough to live in a house right on Greenlake. I would longboard to work at Gregg’s Cycle back in when they had the skate shop. Almost every weekend, my then boyfriend (now husband), would explore all the beautiful little neighborhoods all around including West Seattle.

Things that I am obsessed with when it comes to this session:
The beautiful styling that looks so magical against this green background.
2. Look at this pup
3. Sisters who trust me when I tell them to lay down and snuggle in the wildflowers
4. The sense of peace the breeze gives.
5. Families who snuggle up!
6. When people come with me to wild places

Choosing an adventurous location for a maternity session
I know it’s not easy to add an adventure on the end of a pregnancy. But! Combining beautiful places with beautiful bellies sure does make for a memorable session.
WA has been chilly and windy, but I see sun and warmth in the forecast! Please let the forecast be accurate
Barefoot?
This mama choose to not wear shoes for this session and while this choice is not for everyone, I am obsessed with how grounded it makes the photos feel in this location.
If you are interested in a session at this location, this is a Mid-Way Adventu ..read more

The absolute sweetest little duo at my newborn session a few weeks ago near Kirkland WA.
Quick note about older sibs at newborn sessions: they are likely to act a little different. Maybe more bouncy, maybe more silly, maybe more shy. That is totally normal and ok. That’s MY expectation. I don’t assume to meet an older sibling who acts like everything is normal when they have 1. A new sibling 2. A new routine 3. A lady they don’t know in the house lol!
A lot of parents say “well this was very different than our first baby’s session” but it’s so normal for it to feel perhaps like a whirlwind ..read more

I had a very special session last month for a family to honor their little love Luna.
As a photographer, capturing this in way that felt joyful was quite important. We lucked out with the prettiest weather and a lovely little moon (so fitting for a session for a Luna) peeking down on us. They brought lovely flowers and a golden moon balloon which caught the sun in the loveliest way.
Auntie and Uncle joined in and it was such a beautiful hour we spent together.
A note from Luna’s mama who, along with her husband, have made themselves available to other parents in grief. I loved what she says ..read more

I often teach other photographers who are in growth mode about marketing and defining their artistry.
I often talk about defining your artistry in such a way that you are not a service provider. In the beginning, you may feel like a service provider because you don’t have a defined method, a speciality, a style or a process.
However, as you form those things, you will also feel yourself building a protective wall around the way you love to create. If you allow people to push the wall down and force you back into service provider-ship, you’ll feel so full of resentment that you’ll want to pop ..read more

What do you do if you fear you miss the newborn window? You don’t worry at all! We can still get sweet + snuggly moments with babies older than 6 weeks. But let’s chat about the styling of this session because I loved it so much.
About two years ago, I wrote a blogpost titled “not sure what to wear to your newborn session? Just wear white!” And I know white, or neutrals for that matter aren’t everyone’s cup of tea but here’s why I love it as a styling choice:
1. It’s timeless. Prints and trends come and go but a white tee or sweater and jeans will be in style forever.
2. Here in the PNW, in ..read more
