I’m tired of paying crazy prices for fishing tackle so I’m making my own tackle to bring down some the crazy costs.
I secured some WTP 2” x 6” decorator lure tape in “super pearl” for $1.89 and attached it to some thin plastic packaging I was going to toss in a landfill. I then traced out the shape of a smile blade w/ a thin sharpie in the 1 1/2” size and cut them out with my fly tying scissors. Got several different colors to play around with going forward to put in front of the...

Hoping someone here can fill some knowledge gaps for me. I picked up a sweet little fly rod at an estate sale today. I was able to find some info on line, but still had a few questions...
It's a four piece 9', 5 wt, D & E rod from Battleground, Washington. Came with the original sock. I know that D & E was operated by Vern Dollar (obit says he passed in 2016) and went out of business around 2004. The internet rumors are that he used Loomis and then Rogue blanks, but I wondered if...

See post #10 for update.
My grandson who is five called me a couple weeks ago and asked if I would build him a blue fishing rod. What’s a grandpa to say? Sure no problem as I had five days to get it done as he was was coming out from Georgia to spend a week here in town.
Knowing a fishing rod in a five year olds hands probably has a short lifespan ahead of it I moved forward sourcing some components for a quick build. Thanks to my buddy Sig for donating some trout/bass sized components to...

I got to thinking the other night about messing around and try making a different style of lure, but had a question about what type of foam to use. I’m wanting something that’ll have the foam for buoyancy like what a spin glo has. Granted it’s gonna be an entirely different shape/action. Tried doing a quick search on here and wasn’t able to find anything. Might not have tried the right key word to find it in the search feature though ..read more

Yesterday I was out doing some bass fishing down on the big C. I found a leader that had been part of a plunking rig and it had two (8mm?) chartreuse beads on the line just sitting above the kwikfish. The leader went up to a snap swivel and a 3/4 oz lead ball. Hooks were nice and sharp too! But yeah I was wondering if that's something I was missing out on or what? Ever heard of that?
(I also hope I'm posting in the correct forum, lmk if I'm not lol ..read more

Thought to give them a try and ordered 3. 1 surf blank and 2 protroll composite blanks.
Pleasantly surprised, Nate walks his talk.
They do not sell factory seconds, every top straight first time.
Back to the Rods, Nice Actions, Great Tapers and no flat spots near or at the ferrule, finished well for wrapping. I believe these folks are going to be a great contender.
Thanks Stryker and Crew!
