Harrington & Richardson rifles with Sako actions

Good morning fellow Sako fans. I am new to this forum, but have been following it for years. 14 years ago, when I retired from the military after 32 years of service, I became interested in H&R Ultra bolt action rifles and have recently decided to possibly write a book about these fine rifles. And while H&R used FN, Sako, and Zastava actions, I have many questions with regard to the Models 300, 301, 317, 322, and 370 all of which used Sako actions either exclusively or some of the time. I... Read more ..read more

I have been reading some of the forums and there is so much information here... looking to get a Sako or Tikka bolt rifle and still undecided about which caliber to upgrade into. I like the 7.62x51 caliber but also looking at maybe a 7mm MAG. Hope to read more later... All the best ..read more

Hello all!! I'm new here and just acquired my first Valmet .308 M76!! I like to reload and this M76 really chews up the brass. I'm looking to buy an original ejection port buffer. Also want to replace the plastic pistol grip as mine is broken. Please PM me if there are any of these parts available to purchase, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you ..read more

Finnbear receiver shims, original?

So i have had my L61r for a couple months now and some days it shoots great, others it doesnt. Been blaming myself for it, blaming my loads etc double groups, individually very tight but pretty far apart in pairs of 2 or 3 or 4 etc, but always 2 distinct groups, or in the case of 3 shot groups 1 tight pair and 1 confusing flier. Those fliers have been haunting me for months now. What i just noticed today is that when i remove both the stacked metal shims from under the receiver in front of... Read more ..read more

.30-378 Twist Rate

What is the actual twist rate on the M995 in this chambering? The owner's manual states that it's 1-11", however, I've measured it several times with a tape measure and cleaning rod, and the closest I can come up with is somewhere between 11.22" and 11.41", which is 285-290mm. It seems to be common that Sako uses metric measurements in-house but then publishes measurements in imperial units. It's not a problem, but it does limit practical bullet length. I just don't want to be chasing my... Read more ..read more

A11 Action to Magazine Box Clearance

I haven’t posted for a while and need advice please. Since purchasing my A11 Varmint in 220 Swift I have always been suspect of the bedding job the rifle had already received. I can feel the action torquing and twisting when the action screws are tightened. This is also evidenced by the elongated screw holes in the stock. I am going to re- bed the action, I feel I have no choice. My problem is none of the original wood was left around the recoil lug or tang area as a reference height to... Read more ..read more
