I've been working on this for almost two years now. Getting ready for railing and rigging. It's interesting how in the photos I (and everyone else) can see every flaw, but I don't notice them as much in person. It's sort of like when I look in the mirror I look fabulous, then I see a picture of myself and wince.

Hi all
He began the construction of the cruiser Marseillaise. New in 2023
I started with the hull
Drilled holes for bolts for the racks. He went through all the edges of the body with a blade, removed the chamfer and a lot of debris. I drilled the main casting jambs - there are a lot of traces of poorly processed shapes on the body - scratches and irregularities. I removed the joints of the molds on the staves. I filled the traces of feeders with glue - the plastic was layered in this place, now you can putty and drill.
Portholes. Trump didn't do well with them. Although the Marseillais ..read more

My last build of the Gato submarine was a nice change of course for me, for me subs are very simple as they don't have a lot of 'top clutter'.
So, after a bit of thought, I nearly followed @robgizlu into the world of AFV's, but the smell of the sea won out and I've been eyeing this one in my backlog for ages.
Here are the bits and bobs that will go to make up this little ship.
The colour scheme, is pre war, 1930's. Nice and clean and simple, no crazy masking shapes here.
Nicely moulded hull.
ALL the deck fittings are 3D printed, and appear to be very good. I ..read more

Hi All,
Well this is unfamiliar territory! I am normally firmly in the wingy thing section, but this thread is to document my first 'commission' build. The parentheses indicate that nobody is actually paying for this build; rather, it is intended as a gift for my brother-in-law, who turns 50 soon. He spent over a decade working on the Combat Management System for the Hobart Class Air Warfare Destroyers, so I thought I'd attempt a rather unique gift for this significant anniversary. HMAS Hobart was the lead ship in this class, commissioned in 2017. Here's a photo of the ship:

Hello!
I am taking a leap into a ship and submarine diorama and now that Imgur is working again I can upload some photos of where I am.
My idea was to have an upper layer of a flower class corvette sat within a thin but hard seascape that show above water and below water propeller wake including explosions from depth charges.
Beneath that is another part of the dio, a submarine diving with air bubble trails and propeller wake with depth charge explosions around it in various shades / types of explosion profile with a North Sea base below ..read more

I'm not going to start for a little while, but this will be my next build.
I could just do her as a generic boat, but I think all boats should have a name, so this on this one will be......
USS Flasher SS-249
I've only ever built one other submarine, the Starling Models T Class HMS Tabard, a nice little kit.
The thing with submarines, I find, is that they are not as complicated as surface ships, so this will make a nice change. As you will see there are not a lot of parts, but they are quite well moulded and there seems to be good detail on the hull/deck.
The hull splits in two ..read more

Hello everyone,
I hope you're all doing well. I wanted to share a bit of a dilemma I've been facing with my model Titanic, and I'm hoping some of you might have some advice or tips to help me out.
A while back, I received a 1/400 scale model of the Titanic from Revell. It was my very first model, but unfortunately, it never got finished. The main issue is that it was painted in a rather amateurish manner, using the paints that came with the kit.
Now, I'm eager to finally complete it, but the paint job is really holding me back. I've been considering trying to strip the paint, perhaps wi ..read more

I've started work on a Lun class Ekranoplan this weekend. It's a Takom model 3002 - https://www.scalemates.com/kits/takom-3002-lun-class-ekranoplan--1359139
Very simple kit to construct. It took a couple of hours. And there's not a lot of components that make up the kit. I had it built in a single afternoon.
Base is Stainless steel, Welded it up myself, I need to add some rubber to the arm to hold the model a bit more securely.
Paint wise It's just a base-coat. Titans panzer grey from a can, titans white over top, and then a 6000grit cutback and some base washes. It's almost r ..read more
