This might have one of the best noses on a rye I’ve ever had and as easily a contender for 2024 Rye of the year
It has the perfect balance of sweetness and spice
110.4 Proof
Nose - Vanilla, brown sugar, caramel, oak, rye spice, cinnamon, cinnamon red hots, cherries, almost reminds you of a pastry shop with confectioners sugar, and some baked fruit pastry. You get some mint and maple as well as it gets some air.
It’s complex and inviting. I can come back to this all night and just enjoy the nose on it, it is that good.

I’ve always gotten an unpleasant banana runts note from the JD products and haven’t ever been impressed by any of them. The reason I picked this one up today is because on a recent post a lot of commenters had said this pour far exceeded their expectations and so I decided to give it a try.
Nose: Sweet, herbal, candy cane, luxardo cherries, caramel and banana.
Palate: Warm, dense, oak forward, sweet, cherry, vanilla, banana foster, herbal minty sweetness,
Finish: A bit bitter, long finish, quite tannic,
