Shuttleworth Best of British Airshow 2024 is a year of change for the Shuttleworth Collection’s air display season. It got underway slightly later than usual in mid-May with the Best of British Airshow. Due to exceptional circumstances well beyond of the control of the Abingdon organising committee, the Air & Country Show scheduled for Saturday 18th May has been postponed. The organisers have stated they are looked at possibly holding the event later in the year when the current circumstances are resolved. The RAF Tutor Display Team returns for the 2024 with Flt Lt Robin (Bob) Dewes taking over display pilot duties. Bob is a Qualified Flying Instructor based at RAF Wittering in Cambridgeshire. Previous he served on the Royal Air Force Search and Rescue squadrons on the Sea King and was also a captain on the VC-10 tanker fleet. IWM Duxford VE Day Flying Day Imperial War Museum Duxford opened the UK flying display season over the May Day Bank Holiday with the VE Day Flying Day. The first of three ‘Flying Days’ due to be held in 2024 as part of Duxford’s flying season, the day marked 79thAnniversary of the end of the Second World War in Europe with a select choice of Duxford’s resident airworthy historic aircraft. 2024 marks the 90th Anniversary of the l’Armée de l’Air et de l’Espace (AAE). The anniversary will be marked at event across France with particular focus on a very special event at Versailles in June and an Open Door at BA 125 d’Istres-Le Tubé at the end of September. 2024 sees the return of the Black Cats Helicopter Display Team to the display circuit after several years absence. The team are planning to conduct both duo and solo displays at a number of events around the UK during the summer. The display pilots for 2024 are Lt Scott Sunderland and Lt Michael “Viv” Vivian. The 2024 Czech Air Force JAS-39C Gripen display pilot, Ondřej Španko has posted his confirmed listing of displays for the 2024 season. In a surprise announcement, the Danish Air Force has announced its major airshow planned for this year at Aalborg has been postponed.  The statement posted via their social media channel reads: “In order to prioritize operational tasks, we have made the decision to postpone the Danish Air Show to 2025. Building and maintaining operational capabilities are our main focus areas, and from a broader perspective, we have found it necessary to defer the Danish Air Show to 2025.
