View attachment 32128 I took advantage of a cooler cloudy day to do a bit of landscape remodeling in front of the Gnome home (which is still under construction as the carpenter (Bob) has a wounded wing (shoulder) and he hasn’t been able to work on the deck and step.
I had the little Globe Arborvitae planted in front of the tree stump , but I wanted to use two baby BoBo Hydrangeas too so I moved the Arb to the middle and put the two Hydrangeas on either side. That tree is gone, but the roots...

Just for laughs. I wonder if any one else sees the puppy face in this pic. Is it just me or do others see a puppy face with tongue hanging out in this pic ? Like looking at clouds we see images in the sky .

It has its first bloom this morning, and will soon have more. The color the camera shows is much lighter in shade than the real color. The real color is a very deep burgundy, but not the same as my other burgundy roses.

Today is the day I’ve been dreaming of since last fall! We moved this lovely Chamaecyparis to a new, better location.
We dug and dug, no small feat; and put it into a big hole that was once a pine tree stump.
The pine was removed in 2009, and it was in the middle of my ornamental bed, so I decided against having the stump ground out. Over the years, I have had a big pot sitting on the stump with various combinations of annuals. Last summer I realized the stump was really decomposing and I...

Hi! I got this little white fir (apps say it's common juniper, etc.). But it looks pretty sad. If it's not dead, maybe there is something I can do to improve the little tree/shrub? Thank you ..read more

It seems that the United Nations has declared Neem (Azadirachta indica) as "The Tree of the 21st Century".
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neem
This tree is a native of Southern Pakistan, and recently has also been declared as the official tree of our Sindh province.
It has been known for centuries as "nature's pharmacy". Extract of this tree is mainly used as insecticide, as well as a fungicide. It also repels termites wherever it is...

Normally, I would not be real concerned, but this black walnut is between my house and my kids' house, and if it falls, could take out either house.
This morning, I noticed that there are what looks like woodpecker holes at about knee or hip high around my large black walnut tree. The holes are seeping lots of sap and the bugs are enjoying it, so it is already coming out of dormancy for spring. They are not totally around the tree, but more than halfway around the tree. Personally, I...
