I acquired a used Grex pin Nailer, P645L, recently and worked fine for a while. Recently the gun Nailer stopped working. The ram would not retract back up to fire the next pin. Bought O-ring kit along with a new piston ram assembly. Re assembled and have the same problem. Has anyone experience this before? Comments and or solutions are welcome! Thanks Kim ..read more

Radial Arm Saw Overarm Play (HELP wanted)

Hey all, I have an older Craftsman radial arm saw I purchased used last summer. I haven't done too much with it, but when I have used it I've noticed that the overarm has some play in it even when locked and tightened. I'd guess maybe 1/8"+ when the saw is fully extended, (maybe a little more than that, I haven't used it in a while). I'm going to assume that this is not the norm. Anyone know how to eliminate this? Thanks, Jack ..read more

Which joint is strongest--surprise!

Ran across this very interesting video of tests of the strength of various kinds of butt type joints, including box and dovetails, and several other types of joints. I also posted a jpg below on the results. I like splined corner joints on mitered corners. Look great and they turn out to be incredibly strong. They make dovetails look like 98 lb weaklings. BTW, I think he was using kiln dried pine for this test, hardwoods might fare differently. The video link... Which joint is strongest--surprise ..read more

Mitersled runners

I thinking about how to make the runners. I take 3/4 white vinyl exterior trim board. I had a scrap piece about 3 ft. long by 2 1/2 wide. I ripped the piece to 2 inches the cutoff is 3/8. So the cutoff piece is 3 ft. by 3/4 by 3/8. That is what you want for your miter slot. So since the blade is 1/8 the cutoff piece is 3/8 instead of 1/2 ..read more

It is a fixed and plunge base kit in reasonable condition. $150. I read over at WOOD magazine that it had built in depth adjustment from above the table. Does this mean a lift is not needed at all ..read more

New Ripping Blade Freud LM72M010

Got this blade recently. It was on sale at Amazon and I think is the best value in a dedicated ripping blade. I used to work as a sawyer in a mill and all our blades used the Flat Tooth Grind pattern. I have two big piles of chainsaw milled pine, birch, tamarack, cedar and aspen that I plan to use this blade on. i like the fact that it has a nonstick coating that is not red. Have not used it yet but other people tell me I can expect great things... New Ripping Blade Freud LM72M010 ..read more
